Mineralogical and geochemical investigations on Finnish lake ores [PDF]
The limnic ferromanganese ore concretions in some Finnish lakes are described. Their chemical and mineral compositions have been measured as have their natural surroundings — the latter by means of physico-chemical in-situ analysis.

Development of an analytical model for the extraction of manganese from marine nodules [PDF]
Multivariable analytical models provide a descriptive (albeit approximate) mathematical relationship between a set of independent variables and one or more dependent variables.

Optimization of parameters for the dissolution of Mn from manganese nodules with the use of tailings in an acid medium [PDF]
Manganese nodules are an attractive source of base metals and critical and rare elements and are required to meet a high demand of today’s industry. In previous studies, it has been shown that high concentrations of reducing agent (Fe) in the system are ...

Search for Magnetic Monopoles Trapped in Matter [PDF]
There have been many searches for magnetic monopoles in flight, but few for monopoles in matter. We have searched for magnetic monopoles in meteorites, schists, ferromanganese nodules, iron ores and other materials.

ON THE NATURE OF OXIDE FERROMANGANESE ORES OCEAN
Oxide ores of the global ocean — cobalt-rich crusts and ferromanganese nodules are of bacterial origin and identified as stromatolites and onkolites. Pillar structure of ferromanganese stromatolites and festoon-shaped structures of onkolites represent

Almost billfish: convergent longirostry, micro-dentition, and possible glandular sinuses in a large teleost fish from the Upper Cretaceous of Northern Italy. [PDF]
A fossil rostrum fragment of a large teleost fish from the Upper Cretaceous of Northern Italy reveals remarkable anatomical convergences with Cenozoic and Recent billfishes (marlins, swordfishes, and akin). The extinct group Plethodidae independently acquired a long snout, micro‐teeth, and oil‐gland sinuses well before the evolution of true billfishes.

An assessment of bottom current controlled sedimentation in Pacific Ocean abyssal environments [PDF]
The effect of the circulation of polar-sourced dense waters on the deep seafloor is still largely unknown. This paper presents multibeam bathymetric evidence for the existence of present-day contourite drifts on the central Pacific ocean at depths ...
