Hydrodynamic mechanism for stable spindle positioning in meiosis II oocytes [PDF]

open access: yesPRX Life 2, 043003 (2024)
Cytoplasmic streaming, the persistent flow of fluid inside a cell, induces intracellular transport, which plays a key role in fundamental biological processes. In meiosis II mouse oocytes (developing egg cells) awaiting fertilisation, the spindle, which is the protein structure responsible for dividing genetic material in a cell, must maintain its ...

Molecular Nanoarchitectonic Sensing Layer for Analysis of Volatile Fatty Acids in Bioreactor Headspaces Using a Nanomechanical Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A porous crystalline sensing layer has been developed in conjunction with a nanomechanical sensor for the sensitive detection of volatile fatty acids (VFAs) in admixture at high relative humidity. The sensitive, selective sensor based on supramolecular design improves the economic viability of anaerobic digesters toward a carbon neutral society ...

Die »Notwendigkeit eines Vaters für das Kind« und der Zugang lesbischer Frauen zur Reproduktionsmedizin (The child’s need for a father and access to assisted reproductive technologies by lesbians) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This chapter provides an overview of two broad areas relating to lesbians’ use of reproductive services for family building. First, it identifies strategies used in the building of ‘planned’ lesbian families – where a lesbian couple, the genetic mother ...

Estimation of growth and yielding of five highbush blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum L.) cultivars

open access: yesFolia Horticulturae, 2012
In the years 1996-1999, a study was conducted on the estimation of the growth and yielding of northern highbush blueberry on a brown soil developed from loess.

Effect of long-term organic and mineral fertilisation on selected physico-chemical soil properties in rye monoculture and five-year crop rotation

open access: yesSoil Science Annual, 2019
The research was carried out continuously since 1923 in a permanent fertilisation experiment at the Experimental Station of SGGW in Skierniewice. The objective of the research was to determine the effect of long-term fertilisation (Ca, CaNPK, NPK) and ...

Impact of sulphur fertilisation on crop response to selenium fertilisation

open access: yesPlant and Soil, 2009
UK wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) has a low selenium (Se) concentration and agronomic biofortification with Se is a proposed solution. A possible limitation is that UK wheat is routinely fertilised with sulphur (S), which may affect uptake of Se by the crop.

Productivity of pre-modern agriculture in the Cucuteni-Trypillia area [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
(Abridged) We present palaeoeconomy reconstructions for pre-modern agriculture, with the Cucuteni-Trypillia Cultural unity (5,400-2,700 BC, modern Ukraine, Moldova and Romania) as example. The starting point of our analysis is the palaeodiet structure suggested by archaeological data, stable isotope analyses of human remains, and palynology.

Long‐Term Study of Optical Nanoparticles Doped With Yb3+/Er3+ and Transition Metal Ions and their Real Application for Imaging and Temperature Sensing on Triticum Aestivum L.

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
This work shows a study on SrF2:Yb3+, Er3+ water colloid, additionally doped with transition metals (Sc3+ or Zn2+) to enhance observed emission, tested during 22 weeks of storage in ambient conditions. Due to high stability, excellent optical properties achieved under 975 nm excitation, and negligible phytotoxicity, the nanoparticles are applied for ...
