Synchronizing N Release from Organic Residues: Opportunities for Integrated Management of N

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2001
In intensive cropping systems, mineral nitrogen (N) fertilizers represent the largest component of the N cycle because the indigenous N supply is not adequate. The requirement for mineral fertilizer may be reduced with the use of organic nutrient sources.

DNA‐PKcs‐Driven YAP1 Phosphorylation and Nuclear Translocation: a Key Regulator of Ferroptosis in Hyperglycemia‐Induced Cardiac Dysfunction in Type 1 Diabetes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the context of chronic hyperglycemia, a DDR is initiated, leading to the pathological activation of DNA‐PKcs in the diabetic heart. This activated DNA‐PKcs directly interacts with and phosphorylates YAP1 at Thr226, thereby increasing the nuclear expression of YAP1.

The Nuclear Localization of ACLY Guards Early Embryo Development Through Recruiting P300 and HAT1 to Promote Histone Acetylation and Transcription

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ACLY is vital for early embryo development. IGF‐1 activates AKT to phosphorylate ACLY, driving its nuclear localization and recruitment of HATs (P300/HAT1), boosting acetyl‐CoA production and histone acetylation for transcriptional activation. Conversely, ACLY deficiency (via knockdown, knockout, or AKT inhibition) reduces nuclear acetyl‐CoA, disrupts ...

Green Manure Rotation Combined with Biochar Application Improves Yield and Economic Stability of Continuous Cropping of Peppers in Southwest China

open access: yesPlants
Crop rotation is widely recognized as a key strategy to mitigate the adverse effects associated with continuous cropping. Recent studies have demonstrated that biochar has a significant potential for preventing and controlling these challenges.

Multimodal Investigation of Angiogenesis and Its Prevention by Small Compounds in a Zebrafish Cancer Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A combined optical coherence tomography angiography and fluorescence imaging approach assesses tumor angiogenesis and drug effects in a novel zebrafish cancer model. By analyzing 3D vasculature data, the two imaging methods complement each other to quantify blood flow, vessel structure, and drug efficacy.

Does Subsidizing Fertilizer Increase Yields? Evidence from Malawi [PDF]

open access: yes
Despite their strain on government and donor budgets, fertilizer subsidies have once again become popular policy tools in several Sub-Saharan Africa countries as a potential way to increase yields in staple crops like maize.

3D Simulation with virtual stereo rig for optimizing centrifugal fertilizer spreading [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Stereovision can be used to characterize of the fertilizer centrifugal spreading process and to control the spreading fertilizer distribution pattern on the ground reference.
