Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

Effects of tillage management on soil organic carbon mineralization under double cropping rice system of southern China

open access: yesScientific Reports
Soil organic carbon (SOC) plays a vital role in maintaining or enhancing soil fertility and quality of paddy field, but there is still limited information about how SOC mineralization responds to different tillage managements under the double-cropping ...

Effects of short-term tillage managements on soil aggregation stability and carbon and nitrogen in the double-cropping rice system of Southern China

open access: yesCarbon Management
The effects of different short-term (7 years) tillage managements on soil aggregate stability and C and N distribution in the 0–10 and 10–20 cm layers in a double-cropping rice field of southern China were studied.

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...

dUTPase is essential in zebrafish development and possesses several single‐nucleotide variants with pronounced structural and functional consequences

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...

Tillage with Crop Residue Returning Management Increases Soil Microbial Biomass Turnover in the Double-Cropping Rice Fields of Southern China

open access: yesAgronomy
The variety of soil microbial biomass carbon (SMBC), soil microbial biomass nitrogen (SMBN) content, and the flux turnover rate of SMBC and SMBN for 0–10 cm and 10–20 cm layers in a paddy field in southern China with different tillage practices were ...

Multi‐omics and low‐input proteomics profiling reveals dynamic regulation driving pluripotency initiation in early mouse embryos

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Mouse pre‐implantation development involves a transition from totipotency to pluripotency. Integrating transcriptomics, epigenetic profiling, low‐input proteomics and functional assays, we show that eight‐cell embryos retain residual totipotency features, whereas cytoskeletal remodeling regulated by the ubiquitin‐proteasome system drives progression ...
