Sesquiterpenoid and disulphide derivatives from ferula assa-foetida
Phytochemistry, 1989Abstract Three new compounds asadisulphide, asacoumarin A and asacoumarin B were isolated from asa foctida, the resin prepared from the root or rhizome of Ferula assa-foetida. The first compound was shown to be the derivative of sec-butyl propenyl disulphide that was isolated from the same material, and the other two were characterized as ...

Effects of Cymbopogon citratus and Ferula assa-foetida extracts on glutamate-induced neurotoxicity
In Vitro Cellular & Developmental Biology - Animal, 2013Many of CNS diseases can lead to a great quantity of release of glutamate and the extreme glutamate induces neuronal cell damage and death. Here, we wanted to investigate the effects of Cymbopogon citratus essential oil and Ferula assa-foetida extracts treatment on glutamate-induced cell damage in a primary culture of rat cerebellar granule neurons ...

Ferula assa-foetida L. (Apiaceae/Umbelliferae)
2020It is a perennial herb, a species native to the deserts of Iran, mountains of Afghanistan and Turkistan, and is cultivated in India. In all stages of its growth, every part of the plant exudes, upon abrasion, a milky juice which is collected and the dried latex (oleogum resin) is marketed as asafetida that has a fetid smell.

Proteomic and metabolomic insights into seed germination of Ferula assa-foetida
Journal of ProteomicsCold stratification is known to affect the speed of seed germination; however, its regulation at the molecular level in Ferula assa-foetida remains ambiguous. Here, we used cold stratification (4 °C in the dark) to induce germination in F. assa-foetida and adopted a proteomic and metabolomic approach to understand the molecular mechanism of germination.

Proposed binding mechanism of galbanic acid extracted from Ferula assa–foetida to DNA
Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology B: Biology, 2017Recently, galbanic acid (GA), a sesquiterpenoid coumarin, has been introduced as an apoptotic and geno/cytotoxicity agent. In the present study, GA has been extracted from Ferula assa-foetida, a native medicinal plant in Iran, and characterized by 1H NMR, mass spectroscopy. Additionally, spectroscopic studies have been performed in order to investigate

A New Ester Isolated fromFerula assa-foetidaL.
Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, 2007A new caffeic acid cinnamyl ester (1) was isolated from the n-hexane-soluble fraction of an MeOH extract of the gum resin of Ferula assa-foetida L. The structure was determined to be (2E)-3,4-dimethoxycinnamyl-3-(3,4 diacetoxyphenyl) acrylate on the basis of spectroscopic data including 1D- and 2D-NMR. Compound 1 showed moderate activity for inhibiting
