Background and Aim: Ferula assa‑foetida L. is distributed throughout Central Asia and Mediterranean area and grows wildly in Iran and Afghanistan. In Iranian traditional medicine, F. assa‑foetida is considered to be sedative, analgesic, carminative, antispasmodic, diuretic, antihelminthic, emmenagogue, and expectorant.
