Origin of Magnetism in γ-FeSi2/Si(111) Nanostructures
Magnetism has recently been observed in nominally nonmagnetic iron disilicide in the form of epitaxial γ-FeSi2 nanostructures on Si(111) substrate. To explore the origin of the magnetism in γ-FeSi2/Si(111) nanostructures, we performed a systematic first ...

Thermopower of the Correlated Narrow Gap Semiconductor FeSi and Comparison to RuSi
Iron based narrow gap semiconductors such as FeSi, FeSb2, or FeGa3 have received a lot of attention because they exhibit a large thermopower, as well as striking similarities to heavy fermion Kondo insulators.

Fe–Si intermetallics–Al2O3 composites were fabricated by thermite-assisted combustion synthesis. Combustion reactions were conducted with powder compacts composed of Fe2O3, Al, Fe, and Si. The starting stoichiometry of powder mixtures had an atomic Fe/Si

Signatures of electronic correlations in iron silicide
The intermetallic FeSi exhibits an unusual temperature dependence in its electronic and magnetic degrees of freedom, epitomized by the crossover from a low temperature non-magnetic semiconductor to a high temperature paramagnetic metal with a Curie-Weiss

Previous experiments pointed out that the deviation using a sphere as reference of graphite particles is noticeably increased by Si-alloying, with inoculation as a possible beneficial effect.

Unconventional charge gap formation in FeSi
We report the first infrared and optical measurements of the absolute conductivity of FeSi. Above 200 K the ac conductivity of FeSi resembles that of a dirty metal, while at low temperature most of the conductivity below 60 meV is depleted, consistent with an energy gap of that magnitude.

Resonant Charge Relaxation as a Likely Source of the Enhanced Thermopower in FeSi
The enhanced thermopower of the correlated semiconductor FeSi is found to be robust against the sign of the relevant charge carriers. At $T$\,$\approx$\,70 K, the position of both the high-temperature shoulder of the thermopower peak and the nonmagnetic ...

This study develops a thermodynamic–kinetic model for basic oxygen furnace tapping and validates its accuracy under near‐equilibrium and far‐from‐equilibrium initial conditions. Comparison with a reference model demonstrates its broader applicability. The model further reveals the evolution of key steel and slag components, providing new transparency ...
