Chromosomal polymorphism in Festuca arundinacea
Chromosoma, 1966Within F. arundinacea ten exotic populations each crossed with an indigenous bred form S. 170, and their hybrids, were grouped into fertile, partly fertile and sterile categories. Four were fertile hybrids with bivalent pairing (20.75 to 20.99/cell) and high pollen fertility.

Genome plasticity during seed germination in Festuca arundinacea
Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1997Feulgen/DNA cytophotometric determinations were carried out on early prophases in the meristems of seedlings obtained by germinating seeds of different accessions of Festuca arundinacea at 10°C, 20°C, or 30°C. Feulgen/DNA contents increased significantly with the increase in the temperature of seed germination.

Journal of the Grassland Society of Southern Africa, 1988Plants of numerous Festuca arundinacea cultivars and strains were evaluated for palatability, using two methods; a relative softness of leaf technique and a grazing technique. The softness of leaf technique, as measured by hand, provided a useful method to distinguish palatable from unpalatable plants.

Agrobacterium-mediated high efficiency transformation of tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea)
Journal of Plant Physiology, 2005Tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea) is the predominant cool-season pasture grass in the USA. Embryogenic calluses were induced from seeds/caryopsis of elite tall fescue cultivars Jesup and Kentucky-31, and were broken up into small pieces and used for Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation.
