Patient and public involvement in randomized trials of lifestyle intervention among pregnant women with obesity: An umbrella review

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Obesity increases the risk of obstetric and neonatal complications, and adherence to lifestyle interventions during pregnancy presents a challenge. Patient and public involvement (PPI) in trials may foster a more patient‐centered approach, potentially improving compliance with intervention and follow up.

Fetal macrosomia in diabetic multiparous animals [PDF]

open access: yesDiabetologia, 1981
Mild diabetes (blood glucose ranging from 130 to 200 mg/100 ml) was induced in female rats by streptozotocin administration prior to mating. Fetuses obtained from these diabetic mothers on 20.5, 19.5 and 18.5 days of gestation were compared with corresponding fetuses from control mothers. Macrosomia was defined as a fetus whose body weight exceeded the

A randomised control trial of low glycaemic index carbohydrate diet versus no dietary intervention in the prevention of recurrence of macrosomia

open access: yesBMC Pregnancy and Childbirth, 2010
Background Maternal weight and maternal weight gain during pregnancy exert a significant influence on infant birth weight and the incidence of macrosomia. Fetal macrosomia is associated with an increase in both adverse obstetric and neonatal outcome, and

Association of novel intra‐cesarean post‐placental intrauterine device insertion techniques, and early ultrasound, with expulsion rates and strings visibility: A prospective exploratory study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective To assess an innovative technique of intra‐cesarean post‐placental insertion of the Copper T380A IUD (CPPIUD), and explore the role of predischarge ultrasound with replacement of low‐lying IUDs. Methods We conducted a prospective observational study at Princess Marina Hospital, Gaborone, Botswana, from May 31, 2023, to April 3, 2024.

Influence of maternal body mass index on the accuracy of clinical and sonographic fetal weight estimation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Estimated fetal weight (EFW) is essential for managing pregnancy and delivery. Currently, two primary methods are used for EFW: Clinical and sonographic estimation. Both might be influenced by maternal habitus. Obesity has become a global epidemic; however, its effect on EFW and the accuracy of the two methods has yet to be ...

The FemTech revolution: Unlocking the potential of new technology for optimizing pregnancy outcomes in low‐ and middle‐income countries and remote areas

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract Maternal and neonatal mortality and morbidity rates uncover major global health disparities. Despite ongoing efforts, the rates of maternal and neonatal complications remain substantially higher in low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMICs) compared to high‐income countries (HICs). These high rates are the result of several unmet needs in LMICs,

Prenatal Detection and Consequences of Fetal Macrosomia [PDF]

open access: yesFetal Diagnosis and Therapy, 2012
Macrosomia is diagnosed when excessive intrauterine fetal growth occurs and the birth weight surpasses an established limit. The causes and risk factors for fetal macrosomia are diverse. Pregnancies with fetal macrosomia are considered high risk and require intensive antenatal care.

Klippel‐Trénaunay‐Weber Syndrome: Prenatal Diagnosis and Review of the Literature

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Ultrasound, Volume 53, Issue 3, Page 535-546, March/April 2025.
This meta‐analysis demonstrates the high diagnostic accuracy of SZ‐CEUS for differentiating between malignant and benign focal liver lesions, as well as for HCC from non‐HCC lesions. The study shows better performance for smaller lesions and those with a higher proportion of malignancy.
