Fetal Proteins in Ataxia-Telangiectasia
JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1982Ataxia-telangiectasia (AT) is a genetic disorder of unknown pathogenesis, with primary effects on the immune and nervous systems. The presence of a fetal-like thymus and elevated a-fetoprotein (aFP) levels in patients with AT suggests that suppressed mesodermal development may be a factor in the development of this disease.

Fetal proteins occurring in testicular teratomas
International Journal of Cancer, 1974AbstractAlpha‐fetoprotein (AFP) and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) were determined simultaneously in serial samples from patients with teratocarcinomas, testicular tumors of so‐called embryonic origin. These tumor‐associated fetal substances were seen together in four cases, AFP alone was seen in five, CEA in three and neither antigen in two.

Early Human Development, 1993
C-reactive protein (CRP) was measured in fetal blood obtained by cordocentesis from 17 patients with preterm prelabour rupture of the membranes (PPROM). CRP was detected in the blood of eight of the 17 fetuses. Six fetuses, five of whom may have been infected had CRP > or = 0.8 mg dl-1.

Fetal Hyperinsulinemia and Protein Turnover in Fetal Rat Tissues
Diabetes, 1990The effects of fetal hyperinsulinemia on protein turnover in various tissues of fetal rats were determined after transuteral injection of insulin to rat fetuses at day 19 of gestation. Tissue protein content was measured on the subsequent days of gestation (days 20–22), and protein synthesis was determined at day 20 of gestation in fetal tissues after ...

Retinol-binding protein 4, fetal overgrowth and fetal growth factors
Pediatric Research, 2019Retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP-4) is an adipokine involved in regulating insulin sensitivity which would affect fetal growth. It is unclear whether RBP-4 is associated with fetal overgrowth, and unexplored which fetal growth factor(s) may mediate the association. In the Shanghai Birth Cohort, we studied 125 pairs of larger-for-gestational-age (LGA ...
