Clinical value of antenatal fetal pulse oximetry
jpme, 1994The aim of this prospective observational study was to see if high quality fetal pulse oximetry signals can be obtained from the fetus before labour. It was carried out in Labour Ward, Clarendon Wing, Leeds General Infirmary and St. James Hospital, Leeds. We studied Caucasian term fetuses antenatally and 20 fetuses during labour. Antenatal fetal oxygen

Intrapartum fetal pulse oximetry and fetal heart rate decelerations
International Journal of Gynecology & Obstetrics, 2003AbstractObjectives: To determine the behavior of fetal oxygenation (FSpO2) in different patterns of fetal heart rate decelerations (FHR). Methods: A total of 787 decelerations were studied. Results: FSpO2 decreased significantly during decelerations, especially when the alteration was prolonged.

Intrapartum Cardiotocography and Fetal Pulse Oximetry in Assessing Fetal Hypoxia
Obstetrical & Gynecological Survey, 2002AbstractObjectives: A retrospective analysis of short‐term variability (STV), a cardiotocography (CTG) parameter, in relation to fetal blood saturation values (FSpO2) obtained by fetal pulse oximetry. Methods: The study included 26 healthy pregnant women monitored continuously during delivery with both cardiotocography and fetal pulse oximetry. Results:

The future of intrapartum fetal pulse oximetry
Current Opinion in Obstetrics and Gynecology, 2001Fetal pulse oximetry has undergone a remarkable evolution since its conception over 10 years ago. A number of important observations, including the recent publication of a large randomized clinical trial, have provided further insight into our understanding of intrapartum fetal physiology and intrapartum fetal assessment.

[Fetal pulse oximetry: clinical practice].
Journal de gynecologie, obstetrique et biologie de la reproduction, 2009To assess in current practice the application of our protocol of using fetal pulse oximetry during labor, to evaluate whether fetal scalp blood sampling can be reduced and to determinate reliability of fetal pulse oximetry on the prediction of poor neonatal outcomes.Prospective observational unicenter cohort including 449 patients during two years. Artifacts in fetal pulse oximetry
1994One of the problems with pulse oximeters is that they can often give a saturation reading regardless of accuracy; some commercially available oximeters will give a value when the sensors are left on the table (“room air saturation”); regular taps on the table will even give a modulated or “pulsatile” signal.
