Feto-Feto-Fetal triplet transfusion syndrome (FFFTTS)
The Journal of Maternal-fetal Medicine, 1997We report a case of feto-feto-fetal-transfusion-syndrome (FFFTS) in a spontaneous monochorionic triamniotic triplet pregnancy primarily diagnosed at 17 weeks of gestation. During the course of pregnancy, sequentially two triplets appeared as donor. Symptoms of a recipient (polyhydramnios, tricuspid valve insufficiency, and ascites) were present in the ...

[18F]FETO: metabolic considerations
European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, 200611beta-Hydroxylase is a key enzyme in the biosynthesis of adrenocortical steroid hormones and is a suitable target for the imaging of the adrenal cortex. [(11)C]Metomidate (MTO), [(11)C]etomidate (ETO) and desethyl-[(18)F]fluoroethyl-etomidate (FETO) are potent inhibitors of this enzyme and are used for PET imaging of adrenocortical pathologies.

Objective Thoracic outlet syndrome is caused by the compression of blood vessels and nerves leading to the upper limbs; the level of functional discomfort in activities of daily living can be significant. This discomfort has been evaluated using a variety of nonspecific scales, prompting the development a specific self ...

The Feto-placental Dialogue and Diabesity
Best Practice & Research Clinical Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 2015Recent studies have established that the neonate born to a pregnancy with maternal diabetes or obesity ('diabesity') is characterized by increased fat accumulation. The neonatal fat is the result of triglyceride synthesis and deposition stimulated by elevated fetal insulin levels combined with insulin's mitogenic activity directly stimulating the ...

Feto-placental circulatory competence
European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology, 1986Doppler assessment of the pulsatility index (PI) of umbilical artery blood velocities offers promise as a simple, non-invasive method for early diagnosis of placental failure. The present report identifies the hemodynamic factors determining this PI, based on current knowledge of feto-placental physiology.

In the pregnant mare two different groups of oestrogens are produced by the placenta. The precursor of "classical" oestrogens (oestrone, oestradiol-17 beta and oestradiol-17 alpha) is dehydroepiandrosterone which originates from the fetal gonads. The ring B unsaturated oestrogens (equilin and equilenin and their derivatives) derive from farnesyl ...

Abstract. Blood samples from pregnant women and from mothers before and after delivery were tested for the occurrence of feto‐maternal bleeding (f.m.b.) using Kleihauers acid‐elution technique and a counting technique described by Schneider. It was assumed that f.m.b.

[Diabetic feto- and embryopathies].
Arkhiv patologii, 1975The present article gives an analysis of available literature and the authors' own findings. Perinatal mortality of progeny of mothers suffering from diabetes mellitus may be caused both by embryopathy and antenatal fetopathy. The authors did not observe diabetic gameto- and blastopathies and no indications to their existance was found in literature ...
