Advancing fetal autopsy in cases of maceration: Underwater dissection technique and its forensic relevance

open access: yesJournal of Forensic Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract Fetal autopsy remains essential for determining the cause of intrauterine death and for supporting clinical, genetic, and forensic evaluations. However, in cases of advanced maceration, autolysis severely compromises tissue integrity, often preventing adequate identification of anatomical structures and limiting the diagnostic and medico‐legal

Efficacy and safety of different vasopressor infusions on feto‐maternal outcomes in normotensive patients undergoing caesarean delivery: a systematic review and network meta‐analysis of randomised controlled trials

open access: yesAnaesthesia, EarlyView.
Summary Introduction Phenylephrine infusion is widely endorsed by guidelines as the preferred prophylactic drug for spinal hypotension in patients undergoing caesarean delivery; however, clinical practice continues to show marked variability in the selection of vasopressor drugs.

Feto-maternal bleeding following coelocentesis [PDF]

open access: yesHuman Reproduction, 1997
The potential risk of feto-maternal haemorrhage following coelocentesis was examined in 17 singleton pregnancies at 6-11 weeks of gestation by measuring maternal serum concentration of alpha fetoprotein (AFP) before and 1 and 10 min after the procedure.

Ultrasonography of the conceptus development from days 15 to 60 of pregnancy in non-cyclic recipient mares

open access: yesCiência Rural, 2015
The present study evaluated the development of equine conceptus transferred to non-cyclic recipient mares treated with altrenogest. Twenty four mares were used as embryo recipients during the ovulatory phase (Control group; n=8) or anestrus/transitional ...

Steroidogenic compensation and lipid deficiency with enhanced NAD+ salvage in small‐for‐gestational‐age placenta

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Fetal growth restriction is associated with placental metabolic adaptations. In small‐for‐gestational‐age placenta (SGA), cholesterol receptors and steroidogenic enzymes are upregulated, enhancing steroidogenesis. NAD salvage pathway is also increased to support NADP+/NADPH requirements.

Beyond Deterministic Fetal Programming: Intrauterine Exposures and the Multifactorial Origins of Adiposity

open access: yesObesity Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Excess adiposity is not a recently developed problem but has existed since at least the upper Paleolithic, allowing evolutionary selection pressures to adapt the physiology of the pregnant woman and the feto‐placental unit for maternal and fetal protection.
