Ring-Core Multicore Few-Mode Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifier
In this letter, we demonstrate a seven-core few-mode erbium-doped fiber amplifier by core pumping for long-haul transmission system using a few-mode multicore fiber. The differential modal gain between the LP01 and LP11 modes is reduced to 3.2 dB or less regardless of the pumping-light mode using a ring-core refractive-index profile, and flattened ...

Few-mode fiber transmission with in-line few-mode erbium-doped fiber amplifier
We demonstrate wavelength-division multiplexed (WDM) and mode-division multiplexed (MDM) transmission over a fiber recirculating loop comprising of a 25-km span of low differential mode group dispersion (DMGD) few-mode fiber carrying the LP01 and LP11 mode groups, and an inline few-mode erbium-doped fiber amplifier (FM-EDFA) providing low mode ...

Few-mode Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifiers
We review recent work on fiber amplifiers for optical communication systems relying on mode-division multiplexing. This work includes results from a record 6-mode few-mode erbium doped amplifier demonstration.

All-fiber few-mode erbium-doped fiber amplifier supporting six spatial modes
Using the few-mode erbium-doped fiber (FM-EDF) with a simple two-layer erbium-doped structure, we demonstrate an all-fiber FM-EDF amplifier. The gain equalization among the six spatial modes supported by the FM-EDF is achieved when only the pump in the fundamental mode (LP01) is applied.
