Mercury release from FGD

Fuel, 2005
Abstract The release of mercury from flue gas desulfurization (FGD) gypsum in the manufacture of 100% FGD wallboard was studied. Calcination, with product temperatures ranging from 150 to 180 °C, appears to be the most likely process to release mercury from the FGD.

Controlling acid deposition: the role of FGD

Environmental Science & Technology, 1986
This article examines the important technical, economic and policy factors affecting the extent to which FGD systems may be required at existing coal-fired power plants, if new SO/sub 2/ emission reductions are mandated to control acid deposition. It discusses currently available sulfur removal technologies, as well as several that are still under ...

FGD System Conversion

1992
This paper reports on the conversion of a soda-ash and lime dual-alkali flue gas desulfurization system (FGD) to a magnesium-enhanced lime process at Applied Energy Services' Beaver Valley Cogeneration Plant in Monaca, PA. Burning approximately 500 000 tons 454 000 metric tons of medium sulfur coal per year in the plant's four boilers ...

The Treatment and Recycling of FGD Waste

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
At present, wet lime - gypsum flue gas desulfurization (FGD) technology is very common in the field of gas desulfurization technology. In addition, wet carbide slag - gypsum FGD and Magnesia FGD are also used. In the process of eliminating SO2, with the first two technology, the byproducts of desulfurization wastewater and gypsum will be produced; With

New FGD Developments in Europe

9th Annual North American Waste-to-Energy Conference, 2001
Abstract In Europe over the past 40 years there has been considerable social, regulatory, and economic pressures to manage solid waste in a manner that is beneficial to mankind. There have been many successful programs to minimize waste, recycle and reuse waste through energy conversion.

Corrosion Inhibitors for FGD Systems

CORROSION 1987, 1987
Abstract Laboratory tests were conducted to evaluate the performance of several inhibitors on the corrosion behavior of 1020 carbon steel, Type 316L stainless steel, alloy G-3 and Grade-2 titanium in a pilot flue gas desulfurization (FGD) limestone scrubber.

The Evolution of FGD Materials Technology

CORROSION 1993, 1993
Abstract The evolution of flue gas desulfurization (FGD) materials technology in the electric power industry is reviewed. Materials of construction problems with initial FGD systems operation are discussed as well as attempts by power plant and corrosion engineers to solve these problems.

Transport Processes Involved in FGD

1998
This chapter describes the investigations conducted to improve the understanding of the transport processes related to dry flue gas desulfurization (FGD). It is important to improve the understanding of the various processes involved in FGD; e.g, dry sorbent injection and dispersion, sorbent and flue gas mixing, sor-bent humidification by water ...

FGD Materials Guideline and Software

CORROSION 1993, 1993
Abstract Corrosion and erosion have been main causes of failure and shutdown in first-generation flue gas desulfurization (FGD) systems. A wide variety of construction materials have been used and new materials are continually being tested and applied, with varying degrees of success.

Focus Group Discussion (FGD)

2019
This chapter contains the findings of 21 focus group discussions (FGDs) that were carried out in 10 districts of Bangladesh and involved 237 youth between the ages of 18 and 35 years. The sampling strategy employed for the FGDs is discussed. The ethical issues encountered while carrying out the FGDs is then briefly recalled.
