One‐Pot Synthesis of Primary Amides From Benzylic, Heterobenzylic, and Cinnamyl Alcohols Through Biocatalytic Oxidation and Cu(II)‐Catalyzed Amidation

This article reports a one‐pot, two‐stage chemoenzymatic synthesis of primary amides from benzylic, heterobenzylic, and cinnamyl alcohols. The method uses galactose oxidase from Fusarium sp. M3‐5 to oxidize alcohols to nitriles, followed by Cu(II)‐catalyzed hydrolysis to amides with N,N‐diethylhydroxylamine.
