The Journal of Criminal Law, 2015
This paper seeks to present issues relating to female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM) in a manner which is more socio-legal than is usual in this journal, partly because, while there is an important new statute, the Serious Crimes Act 2015, the accepted view of FGM across the world (e.g.

FGM Research Activities in Europe
MRS Bulletin, 1995The application of functionally graded materials (FGM) principles is widespread in Europe, despite the lack of national or European programs coordinating the efforts of the individual institutions and researchers. In the following article, the status of research in Europe will be outlined by examples of research projects from various application fields.

Modelling of Processing of FGM Bioimplants
Materials Science Forum, 2009Bioimplants composed of metal and ceramic parts are recently widely used in medicine. It was shown that properties of these implants might be substantially improved with functionally graded materials (FGM). In this work ceramics FGM are considered with emphasis on the optimal processing technique.

Abstract Buckling and post-buckling behaviors of a moderately thick closed ring made of a through-the-thickness functionally graded material (FGM) is investigated in this research. It is assumed that material properties of the ring are distributed across the thickness in terms of a power law model.

FGM's for Biomedical Applications
Advances in Science and Technology, 2006Functionally graded materials (FGM) were fabricated for bio-medical applications, (1) implants, (2) dental core and post, (3) guided tissue regeneration (GTR) membranes. (1) FGM implants of Ti/HAP and TiN/HAP with the concentration changing gradually in the longitudinal direction of cylinder were fabricated to optimize both mechanical properties and ...

The Barriers to Criminalising FGM
2022Abstract Since FGM was criminalised in 1985, there has only been one conviction for the practice as recent as 2019. In this chapter, the obstacles and potential for the implementation of anti-FGM laws are explored in more detail. There has been a political focus on ending FGM through the law but does a top-down approach have an impact on

Composites Part B: Engineering, 1997
Abstract The concept of functionally graded materials (FGMs) was proposed in 1984 by materials scientists in the Sendai area as a means of preparing thermal barrier materials. Continuous changes in the composition, microstructure, porosity, etc. of these materials results in gradients in such properties as mechanical strength and thermal conductivity.
