Let (X i , Y i ), i = 1, 2,…, n be independent and identically distributed random variables from some continuous bivariate distribution. If X (r) denotes the rth-order statistic, then the Y's associated with X (r) denoted by Y [r] is called the concomitant of the rth-order statistic.

In this paper we provide an extension of special parametric class of perturbations of an arbitrary copula (given in [3]) that represent a partial generalization of the FGM family of copulas for parameters from the unit interval. However the FGM family is defined for parameters from the interval \([-1,1]\).

Correspondence analysis (CA) is a method designed to give a graphical representation of a contingency table N and thus to interpret the association between rows and columns. To be specific, correspondence analysis visualises the so-called correspondence matrix P, which is the discrete bivariate density obtained by dividing N by its grand total n: P ...

On a general structure of the bivariate FGM type distributions [PDF]
summary:In this paper, we study a general structure for the so-called Farlie-Gumbel-Morgenstern (FGM) family of bivariate distributions. Through examples we show how to use the proposed structure to study dependence properties of the FGM type ...

Let {(Xi ,Yi), i ≥ 1} be independent and identically distributed random variables (RVs) from a continuous bivariate distribution. If {Rn,n ≥ 1} is the sequence of upper record values in the sequence {Xi}, then the RV Yi, which corresponds to Rn is called the concomitant of the nth record, denoted by R[n].
