3D Mechanical Confinement Directs Muscle Stem Cell Fate and Function
This study reveals that the physical environment surrounding muscle stem cells (MuSCs) plays a crucial role in their function. Using a 3D hydrogel system, it shows that increased confinement preserves MuSC stemness by limiting activation, proliferation, and differentiation.

In this study, the authors show that osteocytes, mechanosensing cells embedded within bone, can indeed regulate prostate cancer cell extravasation through a blood vessel using a physiologically relevant tissue model. Specifically, it is shown that osteocytes modulate the expression of blood vessel cell adhesion molecules, affecting the frequency at ...

On the Capacity of Nonlinear Fiber Channels [PDF]
The nonlinearity of a transmission fiber may be compensated by a specialty fiber and an optical phase conjugator. Such combination may be used to pre-distort signals before each fiber span so to linearize an entire transmission line.

Hurewicz fiber maps with ANR fibers
IN THIS paper we will be concerned with Hurewicz fiber maps with fibers which are ANRs. All of the spaces (except function spaces) under consideration will be locally compact, separable, and metric. Recall that a Q-manifold is a separable metric manifold modeled on the Hilbert cube.

Background Homing endonuclease genes (HEGs) are widely distributed genetic elements in the mitochondrial genomes of a diversity of eukaryotes. Due to their ability to self-propagate within and between genomes, these elements can spread rapidly in ...

Evaluation and Analysis of the ANSI X3T9.5 (FDDI) PMD and Proposed SMF-PMD as Influenced by Various Fiber Link Characteristics [PDF]
The purpose of this project is to evaluate the operational parameters of the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) fiber optic cable plant. The evaluation is based on the Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI) Physical Medium Dependent (PMD) and Single Mode Fiber (

Correspondences between modular Calabi--Yau fiber products [PDF]
We describe two ways to construct finite rational morphisms between fiber products of rational elliptic surfaces with section and some Calabi--Yau manifolds. We use them to construct correspondences between such fiber products that admit at most five singular fibers and rigid Calabi--Yau threefolds.

The challenges to achieve more dietary fiber (DF) in foods and beverages, and achieving recommended intakes, can be traced to IOM recommendation to have two categories or definitions of DF. Objective: Recommend and justify the use of “Added Fiber” (AF) in foods and beverages.MethodsDocument current non‐reported use of AF in foods. ResultsQuantitate and

Elasticity of Diametrically Compressed Microfabricated Woodpile Lattices
Modulus–porosity relationship is derived for woodpile lattices with struts under diametrical compression. The formula presented here that Young's modulus is proportional to the square of the volume fraction E˜ρ2$E \sim \left(\rho\right)^{2}$ is shown to be consistent with computations and laboratory experiments on 3D‐printed samples.
