Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Cascaded Cladding Light Extracting Strippers for High Power Fiber Lasers and Amplifiers
We demonstrate efficient cladding light extracting through cascaded strippers for high-power fiber lasers and amplifiers. A selected part of the fiber is divided into five segments, and the fluoroacrylate jackets of three interval segments are gradually ...

Modeling of Graded-Index Raman Fiber Amplifiers with Pump Depletion
Graded-index (GRIN) fibers are often used for making high-power Raman amplifiers. We employ numerical and semi-analytical techniques to model such amplifiers and include not only the signal’s amplification and pump’s depletion but also various nonlinear ...

Mode instability thresholds for Tm-doped fiber amplifiers pumped at 790 nm. [PDF]
We use a detailed numerical model of stimulated thermal Rayleigh scattering to compute mode instability thresholds in Tm(3+)-doped fiber amplifiers. The fiber amplifies 2040 nm light using a 790 nm pump. The cross-relaxation process is strong, permitting

Thermal resilience of polymer-coated double-clad fiber
Following the advance of ytterbium-doped fiber laser to kW-level cw-output power, there is a particular interest in using shorter fiber length with large cores since they mitigate detrimental nonlinear effect such as stimulated Raman and Brillouin ...

Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.

Spatial Beam Self-Cleaning in Tapered Yb-Doped GRIN Multimode Fiber With Decelerating Nonlinearity
We experimentally demonstrate spatial beam self-cleaning in an Yb-doped graded-index multimode fiber taper, both in passive and active configurations. The input laser beam at 1064 nm was injected for propagation from the small to the large core ...
