Fiber Bragg grating arrays for high resolution manometry
SPIE Proceedings, 2009We demonstrate the application of a fiber Bragg grating based sensor system as a distributed pressure sensing catheter for the human esophagus. It allows space-time resolved measurements of the peristaltic waves of the gullet. The sensor system comprises 30 fiber-optic pressure sensors in a single fiber with a spatial distance below 10 mm each.

Strain measurements using fiber Bragg grating array
Frontiers in Optics, 2005A 3 element, 15 cm Fiber Bragg Grating Array (FBGA), utilizing Coherent Optical Frequency Domain Reflectometry interrogation, was attached to a 75 cm cantilever beam. FBGA axial strain results showed agreement with electric strain gages.
