We define contact fiber bundles and investigate conditions for the existence of contact structures on the total space of such a bundle. The results are analogous to minimal coupling in symplectic geometry. The two applications are construction of K-contact manifolds generalizing Yamazaki's fiber join construction and a cross-section theorem for contact

Homotopy equivalence of fiber bundles [PDF]
2. The classification theorem. We use the notation and results of [3]. We require that the base space B be a polyhedron because this allows us to use a result of A. Dold [2 ] to simplify both the statement and proof of the theorem. We will assume that the fiber F is locally compact and let M be the space of maps F-*F which have homotopy inverses ...

Glued linear connection on surface of the projective space
We consider a surface as a variety of centered planes in a multidimensional projective space. A fiber bundle of the linear coframes appears over this manifold. It is important to emphasize the fiber bundle is not the principal bundle.

Cohomology of GKM fiber bundles [PDF]
The equivariant cohomology ring of a GKM manifold is isomorphic to the cohomology ring of its GKM graph. In this paper we explore the implications of this fact for equivariant fiber bundles for which the total space and the base space are both GKM and derive a graph theoretical version of the Leray-Hirsch theorem.

Complex collagen fiber and membrane morphologies of the whole porcine aortic valve. [PDF]
Replacement aortic valves endeavor to mimic native valve function at the organ, tissue, and in the case of bioprosthetic valves, the cellular levels.

Martingales on principal fiber bundles
Let P(M,G) be a principal fiber bundle, let ω be a connection form on P(M,G), and consider a projectable connection ∇P on P(M,G). The aim of this work is to determine the ∇P -martingales in P(M,G). Our results allow establishing new characterizations of harmonic maps from Riemannian manifolds to principal fiber bundles.

Endocytoscopy is an optical biopsy technique which uses a miniaturized camera to capture white light microscopy images through an endoscope. We have developed an alternative design that instead relays images to an external camera via a coherent fiber bundle.

The ratio of type III to type I collagen is important for properly maintaining functions of organs and cells. We propose a method to quantify the ratio of type III to total (type I + III) collagen (λ III ) in a given collagen fiber bundle using second ...
