Cognitive Compensation Depends on Frontoparietal Network Structure–Function Coupling in Patients With White Matter Hyperintensity

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 15, Issue 9, September 2025.
By integrating functional MRI and DTI, our study found that in patients with the presence of mild white matter hyperintensity (WMH), the frontoparietal network structure–function coupling (SC‐FC coupling) was positively correlated with WMH volume and cognitive function, suggesting its role in cognitive compensation.

Formalized proof, computation, and the construction problem in algebraic geometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
An informal discussion of how the construction problem in algebraic geometry motivates the search for formal proof methods. Also includes a brief discussion of my own progress up to now, which concerns the formalization of category theory within a ZFC ...

Spectral Normalization and Voigt–Reuss net: A universal approach to microstructure‐property forecasting with physical guarantees

open access: yesGAMM-Mitteilungen, Volume 48, Issue 3, September 2025.
Abstract Heterogeneous materials are crucial to producing lightweight components, functional components, and structures composed of them. A crucial step in the design process is the rapid evaluation of their effective mechanical, thermal, or, in general, constitutive properties.

Global and microlocal aspects of Dirac operators: Propagators and Hadamard states

open access: yesMathematische Nachrichten, Volume 298, Issue 9, Page 2942-2974, September 2025.
Abstract We propose a geometric approach to construct the Cauchy evolution operator for the Lorentzian Dirac operator on Cauchy‐compact globally hyperbolic 4‐manifolds. We realize the Cauchy evolution operator as the sum of two invariantly defined oscillatory integrals—the positive and negative Dirac propagators—global in space and in time, with ...

Exponential actions defined by vector configurations, Gale duality, and moment‐angle manifolds

open access: yesBulletin of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 57, Issue 9, Page 2571-2629, September 2025.
Abstract Exponential actions defined by vector configurations provide a universal framework for several constructions of holomorphic dynamics, non‐Kähler complex geometry, toric geometry and topology. These include leaf spaces of holomorphic foliations, intersections of real and Hermitian quadrics, the quotient construction of simplicial toric ...

Taking limits in topological recursion

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 112, Issue 3, September 2025.
Abstract When does topological recursion applied to a family of spectral curves commute with taking limits? This problem is subtle, especially when the ramification structure of the spectral curve changes at the limit point. We provide sufficient (straightforward‐to‐use) conditions for checking when the commutation with limits holds, thereby closing a ...

Legendrian non‐isotopic unit conormal bundles in high dimensions

open access: yesJournal of Topology, Volume 18, Issue 3, September 2025.
Abstract For any compact connected submanifold K$K$ of Rn$\mathbb {R}^n$, let ΛK$\Lambda _K$ denote its unit conormal bundle, which is a Legendrian submanifold of the unit cotangent bundle of Rn$\mathbb {R}^n$. In this paper, we give examples of pairs (K0,K1)$(K_0,K_1)$ of compact connected submanifolds of Rn$\mathbb {R}^n$ such that ΛK0$\Lambda _{K_0}$

Topology in Biological Piezoelectric Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 32, August 14, 2025.
This review summarizes the topological structures in biological piezoelectric materials, covering morphology evolution, spatial arrangement, and biomimetic strategies. These topologies modulate structure‐property relationships across multiple scales, enabling performance enhancement and multifunctional integration.

Computational Modelling of Cancer Nanomedicine: Integrating Hyperthermia Treatment Into a Multiphase Porous‐Media Tumour Model

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Biomedical Engineering, Volume 41, Issue 8, August 2025.
We present a computational model for nanoparticle‐mediated hyperthermia treatment fully integrated into a multiphase porous‐media model of the tumour. Our results show that the host tissue surrounding the tumour is also exposed to considerable heat doses.

On Designing Transport Networks With Latency Guarantees for Next‐Generation Services

open access: yesTransactions on Emerging Telecommunications Technologies, Volume 36, Issue 8, August 2025.
This article presents an open‐source network simulator and digital twin focused on Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN). Our tool is capable of estimating average latency and delay percentiles between every pair of nodes with minimal computational effort, with the ultimate goal of seeing if the MAN is capable of supporting emerging services and ...
