Fiber-Optic Chloride Sensor Development

Journal of Geotechnical Engineering, 1995
Chloride in the form of salt water is a major contaminant of ground water, percolating through landfill liners and causing corrosion of steel. Four fiber-optic sensors capable of detecting chloride concentrations were developed. The most promising sensor detects chloride concentrations from 100 {micro}g/mL to greater than 3,000 {micro}g/mL. This sensor

Fiber Optic Magnetic Sensor Development

SPIE Proceedings, 1987
We review the development of magnetic sensors based on fiber optic technology including magnetostrictive and Faraday rotation sensors. Magnetostrictive sensors utilize fiber interferometers to measure the field-induced change in length of a transducing material.

Fiber optic data link development

IEEE Proceedings of the SOUTHEASTCON '91, 2002
Practical design methods for implementing an optimized fiber-optic data link are presented. In addition, the risetime and falltime budgets of the associated components and the overall frequency response of the fiber-optic data link are discussed. All these parameters are discussed with reference to the length of the data link.
