Enhancing Biodiversity‐Function Relationships in Field Retting: Towards Key Microbial Indicators for Retting Control

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 17, Issue 3, June 2025.
This study investigates the temporal dynamics of bacterial and fungal communities involved in hemp field retting. Using high‐throughput sequencing, this study identified key bacterial and fungal phyla in hemp stems and soil samples, including Proteobacteria, Ascomycota, and newly discovered phyla.

Organic vegetable proteins and oil in feed for organic rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Fish meal may be partly replaced by a matrix of organic horse bean, pea and rape, and flax seed oil may replace fish oil in diets for organic rainbow trout without compromising growth performance and feed ...

Endangered Deep‐Snow Mountain Caribou Have a Distinct Winter Diet and Gut Microbiome That May Be Altered by Maternal Penning

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, Volume 34, Issue 11, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Understanding species‐ or population‐specific dietary specialisation is key to informing habitat conservation needs and successful ex situ recovery programs for many endangered species. One of the most endangered populations in Canada, the behaviourally distinct deep‐snow ecotype of the Southern Mountain caribou, is characterised by a winter ...

The NAC transcription factor LuNAC61 negatively regulates fiber development in flax (Linum usitatissimum L.)

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture
Flax is a crucial fiber crop that exhibits excellent textile properties and serves as a model plant for investigating phloem fiber development. The regulation of multiple genes significantly influences fiber development, notably involving NAC (NAM, ATAF1/

The impact of an acute high polyphenol, high fiber meal with and without aerobic exercise on metabolism in middle‐aged and older adults: A pilot study

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 13, Issue 11, June 2025.
Abstract A high fat, high carbohydrate (HFHC) meal can induce adverse triglyceride (TRG), glucose, and metabolic load index (MLI; TRG + glucose) in middle‐aged and older adults. A bout of exercise (EX) or an acute meal may attenuate these postprandial responses.

Application of nanofiber composites in improving shear resistance and durability of buildings

open access: yesMeasurement: Sensors
In order to improve the shear performance of reinforced concrete beams and improve the shear bearing capacity of concrete beams, the author proposes a scheme based on flax fiber cloth to strengthen the shear performance of reinforced concrete beams, by ...
