Effect of fiber entanglement in chopped glass fiber reinforced composite manufactured via long fiber spray-up molding

open access: yesHeliyon, 2023
Long Fiber Spray-up Molding (LFSM) deviates from the conventional approach in liquid composite molding (LCM) processes by utilizing extremely long chopped strands of fibers as the primary reinforcement material in its fabrication process.

MOGAD Is the Most Common Cause of Isolated Optic Neuritis in Children

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives The study aimed to characterize the clinical features, etiologies, and outcomes of isolated, first‐time pediatric ON in the post‐MOG‐IgG era. Methods This was a single‐center retrospective cohort study at Texas Children's Hospital of patients diagnosed with first‐time ON between 2018–2024, with follow‐up data collected through 2025.

Analysis of Short Fiber Measurements Calculated from the Length Distribution from an HVI Fibrogram

open access: yesJournal of Natural Fibers
Cotton fiber length is one of the most important fiber quality attributes, as it has a direct impact on the quality of spun yarn. Of particular interest is information regarding the shorter fibers in the sample, as research has shown that shorter fibers ...

Needleless electrospinning of uniform nanofibers using spiral coil spinnerets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Polyvinyl alcohol nanofibers were prepared by a needleless electrospinning technique using a rotating spiral wire coil as spinneret. The influences of coil dimension (e.g., coil length, coil diameter, spiral distance, and wire diameter) and operating ...

Harnessing Fungal Biowelding for Constructing Mycelium‐Engineered Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mycelium‐bound composites (MBCs) offer low‐carbon alternatives for construction, yet interfacial bonding remains a critical challenge. This review examines fungal biowelding as a biocompatible adhesive, elucidating mycelium‐mediated interfacial mechanisms and their role in material assembly. Strategies to optimize biowelding are discussed, highlighting

Characterization of Nitinol Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion for Mechanical Metamaterial Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.
