The Bearing Strength of Fiber Metal Laminates
Journal of Composite Materials, 2006The bearing strength, in particular the edge distance sensitivity, of several fiber metal laminates of the GLARE family is experimentally evaluated. The behavior of the fiber layer is investigated in detail to obtain a better understanding of its failure mode. Parallel with these experiments, the bearing behavior is studied using a finite element (FE)

Fiber metallic glass laminates
Journal of Materials Research, 2010The fabrication and properties of fiber metallic glass laminates (FMGL) composite composed of Al-based metallic glasses ribbons and fiber/epoxy layers were reported. The metallic glass composite possesses structural features of low density and high specific strength compared to Al-based metallic glass and crystalline Al alloys.

Applications of fiber‐metal laminates
Polymer Composites, 2000Abstract Advanced composite materials and fiber‐metal laminates (FMLs) have the potential to offer significant improvements in weight savings and durability in airframe structures. FMLs are an advanced hybrid material system consisting of metal layers bonded with fiber‐reinforced polymer layers.

Recycling of Fiber-Metal Laminates
Advanced Materials Research, 2011Fiber metal laminates provide superior mechanical properties over conventional metal alloys. However, they show a very poor recyclability due to its composite nature. Unique recycling technique is developed to recycle both the glass fiber and the aluminum alloy. The process consists of a thermal delamination and an alloy refining step.

Optimal Strength Design for Fiber-Metal Laminates and Fiber-reinforced Plastic Laminates
Journal of Composite Materials, 2010Optimal strength design of fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) laminates and fiber-metal laminates (FML) is studied in this article. An optimization approach that integrates the particle swarm optimization algorithm and a general finite element code ANSYS was developed.
