Recycling of Fiber-Metal Laminates
Advanced Materials Research, 2011Fiber metal laminates provide superior mechanical properties over conventional metal alloys. However, they show a very poor recyclability due to its composite nature. Unique recycling technique is developed to recycle both the glass fiber and the aluminum alloy. The process consists of a thermal delamination and an alloy refining step.

Applications of fiber‐metal laminates
Polymer Composites, 2000Abstract Advanced composite materials and fiber‐metal laminates (FMLs) have the potential to offer significant improvements in weight savings and durability in airframe structures. FMLs are an advanced hybrid material system consisting of metal layers bonded with fiber‐reinforced polymer layers.

Fiber metallic glass laminates
Journal of Materials Research, 2010The fabrication and properties of fiber metallic glass laminates (FMGL) composite composed of Al-based metallic glasses ribbons and fiber/epoxy layers were reported. The metallic glass composite possesses structural features of low density and high specific strength compared to Al-based metallic glass and crystalline Al alloys.

Optimal Strength Design for Fiber-Metal Laminates and Fiber-reinforced Plastic Laminates
Journal of Composite Materials, 2010Optimal strength design of fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) laminates and fiber-metal laminates (FML) is studied in this article. An optimization approach that integrates the particle swarm optimization algorithm and a general finite element code ANSYS was developed.

Dynamic Characterization of a Fiber-Metal Laminate
Key Engineering Materials, 2013The mechanical strength of a fiber-metal laminate is not so well explored at high strain rates, although its constituents are prone to exhibit such effects. In this paper, we describe an investigation of aluminium-fiber glass material using the Split Hopkinson bar device.

The Bearing Strength of Fiber Metal Laminates
Journal of Composite Materials, 2006The bearing strength, in particular the edge distance sensitivity, of several fiber metal laminates of the GLARE family is experimentally evaluated. The behavior of the fiber layer is investigated in detail to obtain a better understanding of its failure mode.

Fiber Metal Laminates — The Synthesis of Metals and Composites
Materials and Manufacturing Processes, 1994Abstract Fiber Metal Laminates are a new class of advanced aerospace materials. They consist of thin metallic sheets bonded together with fiber reinforced adhesive matrices. Their most outstanding characteristic is exceptional fatigue resistance, which stems from the crack bridging effect of the fibers in the prepreg layers.

Effect of Metal–Fiber Shear Interaction on Curing Deformation of Fiber Metal Laminates
Arabian Journal for Science and Engineering, 2020Control of geometric dimension has been a major concern in the manufacturing process of fiber metal laminates (FMLs). In this paper, an analytical model has been proposed to predict the room-temperature shape of FMLs. Firstly, it is successful for using the proposed model to derive the process-induced stress due to the slipping behavior between the ...
