Morphological modification of UHMPE fibers
Polymers for Advanced Technologies, 1994AbstractUHMPE fibers can display several morphological features, including skin‐core, microfibrillar and shish‐kebab structures. In this work, an attempt was made to eliminate these morphologies by treating the UHMPE in a two‐roll mill, at temperatures ranging from ambient to 145°C.

Morphological characteristics of carbon fibers
Polymer Mechanics, 1977Scanning electron microscopy has been used to study the surface, before and after thermochemical treatment, and the fracture sites of PAN carbon fibers heat-treated at 2100°C. The fractographs are analyzed in an attempt to estimate the effect of various defects on the strength of PAN carbon fibers.

The morphological stability of polycrystalline fibers

The ultrastructural morphology of the muscle fiber in myotonic dystrophy
Acta Neuropathologica, 1968Biopsies from three patients with different clinical and pathological stages of myotonic dystrophy were studied by phase and electron microscopy. Large sarcoplasmic masses and spiral annulets were prominent in Cases 1 and 2 while in Case 3, featured clinically by atrophic weakness, they were infrequent.

The endomysium of such muscles transfers tension between overlapping myofibers, and is thus an elastic element in series with them.

Brain Research, 1981The morphology of the cervical giant fiber (CGF) neuron of Drosophila melanogaster was studied by intracellular injection of Lucifer yellow dye. The CGF neuron is the command cell in a motor circuit causing visually driven escape behavior: a single action potential in a CGF axon produces patterned activity in jump and flight muscles.
