MAGTWIST: A Magnetically‐Driven Rotary Actuator Using a Traveling‐Wave With Integrated Stiffness Tunability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MAGTWIST: A compact magnetic rotary actuator, enabling smooth, stepless rotation, and on‐demand locking. Inspired by peristalsis, a soft polymer belt generates a traveling‐wave, enabling 270° rotation when heated. Cooling stiffens the belt, locking it in position and enabling it to withstand high loads.

Prediction of stiffness from orientation data of glass reinforced injection moldings [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The complex thermo-mechanical process developing in injection molding leads to through-thickness and point to point variation of fiber orientation. It is not economically viable to characterize experimentally the variation of fiber orientation. Thus,

Indirect Band Edge and Chain‐Locked Linear Dichroism in the Quasi‐1D Van der Waals Antiferromagnet AgCrP2S6

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
AgCrP2S6 reveals a momentum‐indirect band edge (≈1.35 eV) and chain‐locked linear dichroism: the first direct transitions emerge at 1.6–1.8 eV for E||a. Resonant Raman and photoemission corroborate this assignment. In ACPS/graphene heterostructures, photocurrent turns on above ≈1.5 eV and follows the same polarization selection rules (anisotropy ≈0.53),

Experimental and analytical investigation of the fracture processes of boron/aluminum laminates containing notches [PDF]

open access: yes
Experimental results for five laminate orientations of boron/aluminum composites containing either circular holes or crack-like slits are presented. Specimen stress-strain behavior, stress at first fiber failure, and ultimate strength were determined ...

Harnessing the Orientation of Columnar Discotic Liquid Crystals for Narrowband Blue Emission with Enhanced Out‐Coupling Efficiency Toward Improvement of SP‐OLEDs Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Solution‐processed OLEDs containing discotic liquid‐crystalline MR‐TADF emitters are reported. Supramolecular self‐assembly induces homeotropic columnar alignment, enforcing preferential horizontal orientation of the emitter transition dipole moment in spin‐coated films, which leads to an enhancement in the device light outcoupling efficiency while ...

Structure–property relationships in 3D-printed onyx-based composites reinforced with continuous fibers: role of temperature and fiber orientation

open access: yesComposites Part C: Open Access
This study investigates the flexural performance of 3D-printed continuous fiber-reinforced composites, focusing on the influence of fiber types, orientation, and temperature. Using a carbon, glass, kevlar fiber- and Onyx matrix- filaments, specimens were

Fiber length and orientation prevent migration in fluid filters [PDF]

open access: yes, 1966
Stainless steel fiber web filter resists fiber migration which causes contamination of filtered fluids. This filter is capable of holding five times more particulate matter before arbitrary cutoff pressure drop and shows excellent retention in fuel flow ...

Drug‐Free Thrombolysis Mediated by Physically Activated Micro/Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Overview of particle‐mediated thrombolytic effects (thermal, mechanical, and chemical) and their activating physical stimuli (light, ultrasound, and magnetic field) in drug‐free thrombolysis. ABSTRACT Thrombus‐associated disorders rank among the world's leading causes of death, with ischemic heart disease and stroke as the main contributors.
