Muscle fiber types and function
Current Opinion in Rheumatology, 1993In this review, we address current concepts and recent experimental results that relate to heterogeneity in the physiologic, biochemical, and morphologic properties of mammalian skeletal muscle fibers. Recent data reinforce some of these current concepts while questioning others.

Exercise and Sport Sciences Reviews, 2014
It is accepted widely that fast-twitch muscle fibers are preferentially impacted in aging muscle, yet we hypothesize that this is not valid when aging muscle atrophy becomes severe. In this review, we summarize the evidence of fiber type-specific effect in aging muscle and the potential confounding roles of fibers coexpressing multiple myosin heavy ...

Congenital fiber type disproportion
Journal of Clinical Neuroscience, 2016Type I muscle fiber atrophy in childhood can be encountered in a variety of neuromuscular disorders. Congenital fiber type disproportion (CFTD) is one such condition which presents as a nonprogressive muscle weakness. The diagnosis is often made after excluding other differential diagnostic considerations.

On the Relation Type of Fiber Cone
Acta Mathematica Vietnamica, 2015Let \(I\) be an ideal in a Noetherian ring. The authors consider the Fiber Cone \(F(I)\) and the Rees algebra \({\mathcal R}(I)\) associated to \(I\), and study the relation type of these two algebras. First they prove that if \(I\) is a lexsegment ideal in a ring in two variables, then \(\operatorname{reltype}(F(I)) = \operatorname{reltype}({\mathcal ...

Muscle Strength and Fiber Typing
Clinics in Sports Medicine, 1984The authors discuss fiber typing and morphologic changes resulting from training and how these affect athletic performance. Also considered is the concept of strength, its measurement and development, and how strength affects athletic performance, activity, and injury.

Automated Fiber Type Identification
2018 European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC), 2018We correlate accumulated dispersions measured in coherent receivers to autonomously identify fiber types in a 41-link network without traffic interruption. We achieve 99.66% identification level with only 100 uniformly distributed light paths, even with a 400 ps/nm measurement uncertainty.

Composites Part B: Engineering, 2019
Four biobased thermosets were used as matrices for manufacturing natural fiber-reinforced biocomposites with high performance and biobased contents. The thermosets included acrylated epoxidized soybean oil (AESO), AESO with methacrylated isosorbide (MI ...

Muscle fiber type transformation in nemaline myopathy and congenital fiber type disproportion
Brain and Development, 1986In a morphometric study on biopsied muscles from 5 patients with nemaline myopathy (NM) and 5 with congenital fiber type disproportion (CFTD), the common findings were relative type 1 fiber smallness, type 1 fiber predominance and occasional hypertrophic type 2 fibers.
