Yield strength of fiber-reinforced composite posts with coronal retention

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 2009
Currently, glass fiber-reinforced composite (FRC) posts with shank heads are only recommended for moderate coronal defects. Restoring endodontically treated teeth with large coronal defects remains a challenge, requiring posts with coronal retention and high bending resistance. The purpose of this in vitro study was to investigate the yield strengths of

Effects of poly-γ-glutamic acid on water use efficiency, cotton yield, and fiber quality in the sandy soil of southern Xinjiang, China

Agricultural Water Management, 2019
Poly-γ-glutamic acid (γ-PGA) is a promising, environmentally friendly, non-toxic, biodegradable, and super water-absorbable polymer. Using γ-PGA in agriculture is of great significance to promote crop growth, save irrigation water, and cope with water ...

Fiber yield and quality of fiber nettle (Urtica dioica L.) cultivated in Italy

Industrial Crops and Products, 2009
To evaluate the production potential of fiber nettle crops in Tuscany (Italy), a German clone of fiber nettle was cultivated during 2006-2007. Although a longer experimentation is essential, the two first years of trials showed that the German clone used also seems to give good results in term of growth and fiber yield in an environment like central ...

Calculated fiber attenuation: a general method yielding stationary values

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 1993
A method of calculating the attenuation constant of an optical fiber under very general but weakly guiding conditions is derived. The method, based on Galerkin's formalism, allows a nonuniform and complex refractive-index profile. The real and imaginary parts of the refractive index are allowed to vary independently and arbitrarily as a function of ...

Increased Yield of Bread Containing Citrus Peel Fiber

Cereal Chemistry, 2011
ABSTRACTBread yield is economically important to commercial bakers. Flour was replaced with 2.5% citrus peel fiber or 0.23% pectin. Pectin increased water absorption by 0.6% in the farinograph, 2% in the mixograph, and 4% in baking. Citrus peel fiber had a greater effect, increasing water absorption by 6.5% in the farinograph, 7% in the mixograph, 6.4%

All-Fiber Linearly-Polarized Yb-doped Fiber Laser yielding 2.2-W Green Second Harmonics

2005 Pacific Rim Conference on Lasers & Electro-Optics, 2006
Linearly-polarized, 12-W Yb-doped double-clad fiber laser has been constructed by use of polarization-maintaining fibers and an in-line polarizer. 2.2-W green light was also obtained by second harmonic generation in a periodically-poled MgO:LiNbO 3 .

Predicting the Effects of Rotation Length, Harvest Intensity, and Fertilization on Fiber Yield From Northern Hardwood Forests in New England

Forestry sciences, 1982
A generalized computer model of organic matter and nitrogen dynamics in forest ecosystems (FORTNITE) is presented. Data from studies on northern hardwood forests of northern New England are used to adapt the model to simulate this forest type ...
