RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Gross fibration, SYZ mirror symmetry, and open Gromov-Witten invariants for toric Calabi-Yau orbifolds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Given a toric Calabi-Yau orbifold X, we define and study a non-toric Lagrangian torus fibration on X, which we call the Gross fibration. We apply the SYZ recipe to a suitable modification of the Gross fibration of X to construct an instanton-corrected ...

Categorical notions of fibration

open access: yes, 2019
Fibrations over a category $B$, introduced to category theory by Grothendieck, encode pseudo-functors $B^{op} \rightsquigarrow {\bf Cat}$, while the special case of discrete fibrations encode presheaves $B^{op} \to {\bf Set}$.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

On the Sen limit squared

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 2019
We introduce a class of F-theory vacua which may be viewed as a specialization of the so-called E6 fibration, and construct a weak coupling limit associated with such vacua which we view as the ‘square’ of the Sen limit. We find that while Sen's limit is

Generalized Tsen theorem and rationally connected Fano fibrations

open access: yes, 2001
We prove that a fibration X \to \Bbb P_1, the general fiber of which is a smooth Fano threefold, is rationally connected. The proof is based on a generalization of Tsen's classical theorem: a fibration X/C over a curve the general fiber of which is a ...

Brainstem and Cerebellar Volume Loss and Associated Clinical Features in Progressive Supranuclear Palsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) is a neurodegenerative ‘tauopathy’ with predominating pathology in the basal ganglia and midbrain. Caudal tau spread frequently implicates the cerebellum; however, the pattern of atrophy remains equivocal.

Exotic 4 -Manifolds from Genus-4 Lefschetz Fibrations

open access: yesCumhuriyet Science Journal
In this paper, we study minimal simply connected 4-manifolds with b_2^+=3 which admit genus-4 Lefschetz fibrations over the 2-sphere. We first explicitly construct a genus-4 Lefschetz fibration over the 2-sphere using the monodromy of generalized ...

Hyper-K\"ahler Fourfolds Fibered by Elliptic Products [PDF]

open access: yesÉpijournal de Géométrie Algébrique, 2018
Every fibration of a projective hyper-K\"ahler fourfold has fibers which are Abelian surfaces. In case the Abelian surface is a Jacobian of a genus two curve, these have been classified by Markushevich. We study those cases where the Abelian surface is a
