DIAMOND-FIBRE REINFORCED PLASTIC COMPOSITES

International Journal of Modern Physics B, 2002
Diamond fibre reinforced poly (methylmethacrylate) (PMMA, perspex) composite blocks (100 × 10 × 4 mm) have been fabricated by embedding CVD diamond coated tungsten wires within a perspex matrix. Various volume fractions of diamond have been used, as well as varying positions of the fibres within the composite.

Machining of Fibre Reinforced Plastics

CIRP Annals, 1985
The machining of Fibre Reinforced Plastics (FRP) differs in many respects from metal working. The common machining tasks mostly require contouring operations for 3-dimensional, spatially curved structures. The material behaviour not only is inhomogeneous, but also dependent on fibre and matrix properties, fibre orientation and the type of weave ...

Lignocellulosic Fibre Reinforced Caseinate Plastics

Applied Composite Materials, 2000
Caseinate plastics were reinforced with two lignocellulosic fibres, i.e. wood pulp fibre and flax bast fibre by means of kneading and subsequent injection moulding. The tensile modulus increased from 200 MPa for the unfilled plastic to 1200 MPa at 20 wt% fibre addition.
