Development of a Novel Synthetic Hydrogel Sealant for Effective Prevention of Liver Resection‐Associated Bile Leakage

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A dual‐crosslinking poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) hydrogel is presented that rapidly solidifies and progressively adheres to tissue, achieving durable sealing of bile leaks. In hepatectomy models, this system prevents postoperative complications more effectively than conventional sealants, highlighting its translational potential as a safe and efficient ...

Injectable Stimuli‐Responsive Amphiphilic Hydrogel for Rapid Hemostasis, Robust Tissue Adhesion, and Controlled Drug Delivery in Trauma and Surgical Care

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Fast‐acting hydrogel seals bleeding wounds as the illustrated injectable, pH‐responsive network rapidly gels in situ to stop hemorrhage, adhere strongly to wet tissue, and release antibiotics in a controlled, pH‐dependent manner. The material withstands high pressures, shows excellent biocompatibility, and degrades safely, offering a versatile platform

The Space Within: How Architected Voids Promote Tissue Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review explores the role of void spaces in tissue engineering scaffolds and examines four key methods for introducing porosity into hydrogels at different scales. It discusses sacrificial templating, microgels, phase separation, and 3D printing, highlighting principles, advantages, and limitations. It also addresses emerging strategies integrating

Sculpting the Future of Bone: The Evolution of Absorbable Materials in Orthopedics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the current status of polymeric, ceramic, and metallic absorbable materials in orthopedic applications, and highlights several innovative strategies designed to enhance mechanical performance, control degradation, and promote bioactivity. We also discuss the progress and translational potential of absorbable materials in treating

Final results of a European, multicentre, prospective, observational study of Permacol (TM) collagen paste injection for the treatment of anal fistula [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Aim: Permacol(™) collagen paste (Permacol(™) paste) is an acellular cross-linked porcine dermal collagen matrix suspension for use in soft tissue repair. The use of Permacol(™) paste in the filling of anorectal fistula tract is a new sphincter-preserving

Dynamic, Reconfigurable, and Hierarchical Biosynthetic Composites via Collagen Self‐Assembly within Highly Crowded Microgel Pastes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A new approach to extracellular matrix‐mimetic, hierarchical biomaterials is presented. Soft gels composed of overpacked hydrogel microparticle arrays present a biomolecularly crowded environment permissive to the self‐assembly of collagen networks.

Fibrin Glue in Tympanoplasty.

open access: yesPractica Oto-Rhino-Laryngologica, 1992
Fibrin glue was used in 33 patients for ossicular reconstruction: 20 with tympanoplasty type III and 13 with type IV. It was used as an adhesive between the columella and stapes, with gelatin sponge as a supporting material around them.Fibrin glue makes stabilization of the columella more accurate and firm, and prevents its dislocation.
