Platelet-Rich Fibrin Matrix (PRFM) for Androgenetic Alopecia

Facial Plastic Surgery, 2014
The objective of this study was to determine the effect of platelet-rich fibrin matrix (PRFM) treatment on androgenetic alopecia. Prospective cohort study of 15 (9 male and 6 female) subjects with androgenetic alopecia for at least 1 year who were treated with intradermal injections of autologous PRFM three times on a monthly basis.

A freeze-dried fibrin disc as a biodegradable drug release matrix

Biologicals, 2004
A fibrin clot loaded with soluble tetracycline (TET) was prepared and lyophilized to make discs of a size and shape to use as a drug delivery matrix. On subcutaneous implantation of these discs in mice, they were found to have degraded in 15 days as evidenced by gross and histological examination.

Fibrin Sealant Matrix Supports Outgrowth of Peripheral Sensory Axons

Scandinavian Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Hand Surgery, 1995
It has been suggested that fibrin-based matrix has an important role during the early stage of nerve regeneration. A fibrin sealant matrix, which was made by combining diluted human fibrinogen and thrombin, was used as a substrate for in vitro elongation of neurites and in vivo regeneration of axons.

Influence of vanadate on migrating fibroblast orientation within a fibrin matrix

Journal of Cellular Physiology, 2008
AbstractTreating rats with vanadate, a nonspecific inhibitor of protein tyrosine phosphatases, optimizes the uniform packing of collagen fiber bundles in wound granulation tissue and doubles wound breaking strength in rat incisional wounds. The speculation is vanadate optimizes the packing of collagen fiber bundles through the orientation of newly ...

Sanguinarine inhibits VEGF‐induced angiogenesis in a fibrin gel matrix

BioFactors, 2007
AbstractBackground:The identification of possible ways to block blood vessels formation has become a major scientific objective of the last decade and several phytochemicals are currently being exploited to target tumour angiogenesis.Aim:The effects of Sanguinarine (SA), an alkaloid from the root of Sanguinaria Canadensis, were evaluated in an in vitro

The effects of fibrin and fibrin-agarose on the extracellular matrix profile of bioengineered oral mucosa.

Journal of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, 2013
Several studies have developed efficient oral mucosa constructs using different types of scaffold. However, the changes in the morphology and gene and protein expression profile that could occur in these artificial constructs remain unknown. This study compared the histology and expression of several extracellular matrix molecules in human artificial ...

Fibrin matrix for suspension of regenerative cells in an artificial nerve conduit

Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery, 2008
Peripheral nerve injury presents with specific problems of neuronal reconstructions, and from a clinical viewpoint a tissue engineering approach would facilitate the process of repair and regeneration. We have previously used artificial nerve conduits made from bioresorbable poly-3-hydroxybutyrate (PHB) in order to refine the ways in which peripheral ...

Platelet‐rich fibrin matrix for improvement of deep nasolabial folds

Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, 2010
Abstract Background  Dermal augmentation continues to grow as an aesthetic facial procedure. Many exogenous filler materials rely on an autologous fibrotic response for volume augmentation.Aims  To evaluate the efficacy of a single injection of autologous platelet‐rich fibrin matrix (PRFM) for the correction of deep nasolabial folds (NLFs).Patients ...

Effect of fibrin matrix on growth of glomerular cells.

The American journal of pathology, 1992
Rat glomerular cells were grown either in or on fibrin clots prepared from rat plasma to assess the effect of native fibrin on the growth of glomerular epithelial and mesangial cells. Progressive fibrinolysis was observed in glomerular explant cultures without epsilon-aminocaproic acid (EACA), an inhibitor of plasminogen activation.
