Autologous fibrin tissue adhesive in endoscopic sinus surgery

open access: closedOtolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1995
Endoscopic sinus surgery may be complicated by bleeding, formation of synechia, and infection. This study investigated the application of autologous fibrin tissue adhesive during endoscopic sinus surgery in an attempt to avoid packing, to decrease complications, and to improve healing.

An autologous fibrin tissue adhesive with greater bonding power.

Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1995
To describe and evaluate an autologous fibrin tissue adhesive (AFTA) that uses a combination of ethanol and freezing to precipitate fibrinogen (AFTA-E).The bonding power of AFTA-E was compared with that of a conventional AFTA based on ammonium sulfate precipitation of fibrinogen (AFTA-A).

Watertight cataract incision closure using fibrin tissue adhesive

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2007
To determine whether a simple method for applying fibrin tissue adhesive to a clear corneal cataract incision can create a watertight seal.Laboratory investigation.Clear corneal cataract incisions were simulated in 8 eye-bank eyes. In 4 eyes, fibrin adhesive was applied to the incision in a simple manner; the other 4 eyes were controls with no adhesive.

Experimental Use of Fibrin Tissue Adhesive in Middle Ear Surgery

The Laryngoscope, 1983
The biocompatibility of a new tissue adhesive was tested. Its major advantages are adhesions, hemostasis, and the promotion of wound healing. In experimental surgery on 43 middle ears of chinchillas, documented by histological evidence obtained 45 days after operation, the validity of the following two hypotheses was established.1.

Anastomosis of Intratemporal Facial Nerve with Fibrin Tissue Adhesive

open access: closed, 1994
Traumatic facial paralysis can be iatrogenic or catastrophic. The iatrogenic lesion can be deliberate or inadvertent. The catastrophic can be form temporal bone fracture, firearm shooting, or cutting lesions of the face.

Injectable, Shear-Thinning, Self-Healing, and Self-Cross-Linkable Benzaldehyde-Conjugated Chitosan Hydrogels as a Tissue Adhesive.

Biomacromolecules
Benzaldehyde-conjugated chitosan (CH-CBA) was synthesized by a coupling reaction between chitosan (CH) and carboxybenzaldehyde (CBA). The pH-sensitive self-cross-linking can be achieved through the Schiff base reaction. The degree of substitution (DS) of

Safety and efficacy of currently available fibrin tissue adhesives

American Journal of Otolaryngology, 2001
The purpose of this study is to review preparation methods, bonding power, preparation time, and costs associated with currently available autologous and homologous fibrin tissue adhesive preparations. Two autologous fibrin tissue adhesive preparations (AFTA-A and AFTA-E), a single-donor homologous preparation, and 2 multiple-donor pooled homologous ...
