Reflectivity and fluffiness coupled optical algorithm for colored cotton fibrogram of random-beard image method

Textile Research Journal, 2023
Insufficient studies of reflectance and fluffiness effects on optical density caused large derivation and limited the application of fibrogram methods in colored cotton fiber length tests for decades. A coupled optical method was proposed here to solve this issue, named reflectivity and fluffiness coupled optical algorithm of the random-beard image ...

New Interpretation of the Fibrogram

Textile Research Journal, 1997
The original theory of the fibrogram as developed by Hertel more than fifty years ago has served as the basis of all subsequent cotton length measurements. Hertel's mathematical derivation is based on the assumptions that the sampling probability of each fiber in forming a fiber beard is proportional to its length and the holding point along the fiber

An Examination of the Fibrogram

Textile Research Journal, 1987
The theory of the fibrogram has been derived based on the probability of randomly catching and holding a fiber. The amount axis has been shown to be proportional to the relative mass when related to the original specimen. Tangential equations are used to show that theoretically, for a length l or longer, the proportional mass, the mean length by ...

Generating Fiber Length Distribution from the Fibrogram

Textile Research Journal, 1996
Theoretical fibrograms were generated from fiber length distributions, and new fiber length distributions were then generated from these theoretical fibrograms for two, three, four, five, and six significant digits using differential and algorithm methods.

The Mathematical Basis of Fiber-Length Analysis from Fibrogram Data

Textile Research Journal, 1972
Theoretical equations are developed which give the average length and the length distribution of the whole fiber popula tion from the scan of a fibrogram type specimen. The average fiber length is shown to be equal to twice the area under the fibrogram curve plus an offset which is dictated by the amount of fiber loss in the clamp.
