Fibrous Ankylosis of the Incudostapedial Joint

Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1970
During the last six years 30 cases of fibrous ankylosis of the incudostapedial joint have been found. At operation tests of ossicular mobility gave evidence of rigidity of the ankylosed joint in all 30 cases and, therefore, the ossicular chain was preserved.

Fibrous Component of the Temporomandibular Joint Disk

CRANIO®, 1985
AbstractThis article describes the spatial arrangement of collagen fibrils in the articular disk of the normal human temporomandibular joint (TMJ). Disks obtained at necropsy were examined by light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Observations by light microscopy showed dense cartilaginous tissue composed of collagen fiber bundles running ...

Fibrous Incudostapedial Joint in Congenital Aural Atresia

Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, 2013
Objectives(1) Determine the prevalence of a non‐bony or fibrous incudostapedial (IS) joint in the setting of congenital aural atresia. (2) Assess this anomaly's impact on surgical management and associated hearing outcomes.Study DesignRetrospective chart review.SettingSubspecialty private practice.Subjects and MethodsOperative reports and audiometric ...

Malignant fibrous histiocytoma of the temporomandiblar joint

International Journal of Oral Surgery, 1978
A case of malignant fibrous histiocytoma of the temporomandibular joint in a 21-year-old Japanese female was presented. The patient died of the tumor with local aggressive growth but without any organ metastasis, despite the intensive treatment including radical operation of the tumor, irradiation, and chemotherapy.

Biomechanical pathways of dentoalveolar fibrous joints in health and disease

Periodontology 2000, 2019
AbstractSpatial and temporal adaptations within periodontal tissues and their interfaces result from functional loads. Functional loads can be physiologic and/or pathologic in nature. The prolonged effect of these loads can alter the overall biomechanics of a dentoalveolar fibrous joint (dentoalveolar joint) by changing the form of the tooth root and ...

Intra-articular benign fibrous histiocytoma in the knee joint

The Knee, 2006
We report a rare case of benign fibrous histiocytoma presenting as an intra-articular tumor in the knee joint causing pain and limitation of movements. This is the first case reported with no attachment to tendinous or ligamentous structures.

Film reinforced multi-fastened mechanical joints in fibrous composites [PDF]

open access: possible13th Structures, Structural Dynamics, and Materials Conference, 1972
[±45] graphite fiber/epoxy resin composites were fabricated to form double lap bolted joints, each containing three bolts abreast at constant pitch distance. The specimens were tested to measure the joint strenghtening effectiveness of colaminated boron/polyimide film, introduced locally at 6 or 12 volume percent levels.

Intra-articular fibrous ankylosis of the temporomandibular joint

Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, 1957
Summary The histologic findings in two cases of fibrous ankylosis of the temporomandibular joint are described. In one case complete fibrous ankylosis resulted from rheumatoid arthritis and in the other an injury is believed to have caused deformity of the mandibular condyle with partial fibrous ankylosis of the joint.

Mitomycin C Effect on Fibrous Adhesions of Rabbit Temporomandibular Joint

Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, 2005
OBJECTIVETo evaluate influence of mitomycin C on fibrosis in temporomandibular joints of rabbits with mandibular traction.STUDY DESIGNTwenty rabbits (8 control, 12 mitomycin C group) were included. Titanium screws were placed in the anterior edge of the right masseter tuberosity and the posterior part of the right zygoma.

A Morphological Study of the Fibrous Capsule of the Human Lumbar Facet Joint

Spine, 1996
Macroscopic and microscopic investigations of the human lumbar facet joint capsule were undertaken. To describe the morphologic characteristics of the fibrous capsule of the lumbar facet joints.Previous biomechanical and neurophysiologic studies by the authors have shown that the lumbar facet joint capsule may be a source of low back pain.Macroscopic ...
