A Morphological Study of the Fibrous Capsule of the Human Lumbar Facet Joint

Spine, 1996
Macroscopic and microscopic investigations of the human lumbar facet joint capsule were undertaken. To describe the morphologic characteristics of the fibrous capsule of the lumbar facet joints.Previous biomechanical and neurophysiologic studies by the authors have shown that the lumbar facet joint capsule may be a source of low back pain.Macroscopic ...

Film reinforced multi-fastened mechanical joints in fibrous composites

13th Structures, Structural Dynamics, and Materials Conference, 1972
[±45] graphite fiber/epoxy resin composites were fabricated to form double lap bolted joints, each containing three bolts abreast at constant pitch distance. The specimens were tested to measure the joint strenghtening effectiveness of colaminated boron/polyimide film, introduced locally at 6 or 12 volume percent levels.

Malignant fibrous histiocytoma arising in a gouty tophus at the second metacarpophalangeal joint

Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery, 2006
We report a case of concomitant malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) and tophaceous deposit at the second metacarpophalangeal joint in a 76-year-old man. The patient underwent surgical treatment, local radiotherapy and adjuvant chemotherapy and was disease free at the time of his last examination.

Anatomical study of fibrous structures of the medial aspect of the canine elbow joint

Veterinary Record, 2012
Forces exerted by fibrous structures on the medial aspect of the canine elbow joint have been reported to be involved in elbow pathology. The purpose of this paper is to assess the relationships of the ligamentous and muscular structures of this region of the canine elbow joint, and how they relate to the medial coronoid process.

TREATMENT OF FIBROUS ANKYLOSIS OF KNEE AND ELBOW JOINTS

JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1927
In fractures, dislocations, trauma or infections adjacent to or involving the articulations of the knee or elbow, temporary or permanent loss of function of these joints occurs in a large percentage of cases. In more than 90 per cent the disability is due to limited flexion caused by fibrous formation affecting the joint proper or the tendons and ...

A case of malignant fibrous histiocytoma on the knee joint in a patient with rheumatoid arthritis

Modern Rheumatology, 2001
Abstract An elderly woman with rheumatoid arthritis and receiving nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) treatment was diagnosed with a malignant fibrous histiocytoma in her left knee joint. However, no metastatic lesion caused by the malignant fibrous histiocytoma was found, probably owing to the NSAIDs therapy.

Fibrous Ankylosis of the Temporomandibular Joint in a Young Child.

Journal of dentistry for children (Chicago, Ill.), 2016
Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) ankylosis is an intracapsular union of the disccondyle complex to the temporal articular surface that restricts mandibular movements, including fibrous adhesions or bony fusion between the condyle, disc, glenoid fossa, and articular eminence. The leading causes include trauma and infection.

Removal of the articular fibrous layers with discectomy leads to temporomandibular joint ankylosis

Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology and Oral Radiology, 2019
The aim of this study was to investigate whether direct damage of the articular fibrous layers without condylar fracture, combined with discectomy, was enough to induce temporomandibular joint (TMJ) ankylosis.Bilateral TMJ surgery was performed in 8 growing sheep.
