Using the silastic as interpositional material in the management of left temporomandibular joint ankylosis

open access: yesJournal of Medical Sciences, 2015
Mandibular condylar trauma is the most common cause of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) ankylosis. The pathogenesis of this condition is typified by fibrous or bony tissue replacement of the two articular surfaces, resulting in an inability to open the ...

Analysis of Temperature and Stress Distribution on the Bond Properties of Hybrid Tailored Formed Components

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Hybrid materials enable high‐performance components but are challenging to process. This study explores an inductive heating concept with spray cooling for steel–aluminum specimens in a two‐step process including friction welding and cup backward extrusion.

Application of 3D-printed PEEK scapula prosthesis in the treatment of scapular benign fibrous histiocytoma: A case report

open access: yesJournal of Bone Oncology, 2018
Background: Bone benign fibrous histiocytoma (BFH) is an invasive primary bone tumor. When the local excision is not complete, the risk of recurrence is high, and hence, one-piece resection is necessary.

On the Rigidity and Mechanical Behavior of Triply Periodic Minimal Surfaces‐Based Lattices: Insights from Extensive Experiments and Simulations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines the mechanical properties of triply periodic minimal surfaces (TPMS)‐based lattices, analyzing 36 architectures in elastic and plastic regimes. It evaluates the applicability of beam‐based scaling laws to TPMS lattices. Rigidity arises from the alignment of members with the load direction and solid regions preventing rotation.

Multiple‐Repeated Plasma Surface Treatments for Significantly Improving Bonding Performance of Metal‐Carbon‐Fiber‐Reinforced Thermoplastic Polymer Dissimilar Adhesive Joints

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Multiple plasma surface treatments improved the Mode I fracture energy of metal‐carbon‐fiber‐reinforced thermoplastic polymer (CFRTP) joints by ≈240% compared to single treatments and nearly 2000% over untreated joints. This significant enhancement, achieved without modifying CFRTP surface roughness, is attributed to improved chemical bonding at the ...

Intra Articular Synovial Lipoma of the Right Tarsometatarsal Joint- A Rare Case Report [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2014
Intra articular synovial lipomas are very rare and only few cases have been reported till now. We are reporting a rare case of intra articular synovial lipoma of the tarsometatarsal joint in the right foot in a 38-year-old male who presented with dull ...

From Nature to Engineering: Mortar Volume and Interfacial Mechanics in Bioinspired Ceramics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by natural armors like nacre, this study explores how varying the volume fraction of the soft mortar layer impacts the interfacial strength and toughness of bioinspired ceramics. Experimental and computational analysis reveals that higher mortar volumes increase energy dissipation but reduce interfacial stiffness, offering insights for ...
