Radiographer Preliminary Image Evaluation Accuracy in Interpreting Paediatric Trauma Radiographs

open access: yesJournal of Medical Radiation Sciences, EarlyView.
Radiographer preliminary image evaluation (PIE) is a patient safety mechanism where radiographers provide a written comment describing potential pathology in radiographs they have acquired. This can assist emergency referrers in making a diagnosis when a radiologist's report is unavailable.

Case Report: Radiological Features of Sclerosing Epithelioid Fibrosarcoma in the Right Fibula

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2020
BackgroundSclerosing epithelioid fibrosarcoma (SEF) is an extremely rare, aggressive malignant subtype of fibrosarcoma. Only dozens of cases of primary SEF in the bone have been reported so far, without case involving fibula reported in literature to ...

Operative versus non-operative treatment for closed, displaced, intra-articular fractures of the calcaneus : randomised controlled trial [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Objective: To investigate whether surgery by open reduction and internal fixation provides benefit compared with non-operative treatment for displaced, intra-articular calcaneal fractures.

Non‐invasive Analyses of an Etruscan Fibula From Vulci (Italy): The Benefits of a Combination of Micro‐Raman Spectroscopy, 3D Reconstruction Through X‐Ray Microscopy and ED‐XRF With Monte Carlo Simulation

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
This study analyzed an Etruscan bronze fibula through non‐destructive techniques. The patina and alloy were examined using micro‐Raman spectroscopy and ED‐XRF with Monte Carlo simulations, revealing the formation of corrosion products such as brochantite and sampleite and a binary Cu‐Sn alloy composition.

A critical revision of the fossil record, stratigraphy and diversity of the Neogene seal genus Monotherium (Carnivora, Phocidae) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Historically, Monotherium had been one of the few genera of extinct Phocidae (true seals) that served as a wastebin taxon. Consequently, it did neither aid in understanding phylogenetic relationships of extinct Phocidae, nor in understanding seal ...

Lack of association between revision ACL reconstruction and preoperative, intraoperative and post‐operative factors at primary ACL reconstruction in children and adolescents

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To evaluate factors associated with revision anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) within 5 years of primary ACLR in children and adolescents. Methods Children and adolescents (age <20 years at surgery) who underwent primary hamstring tendon ACLR at the Capio Artro Clinic, Stockholm, Sweden, between January 2005 and December

High‐grade trochlear dysplasia increases patellofemoral joint pressure and decreases the knee extension torque, and tibial tubercle anteriorisation does not correct these effects: Biomechanical study in vitro

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose High‐grade femoral trochlear dysplasia is associated with anterior knee pain, patellar maltracking, instability and the development of osteoarthritis. Scientific studies have signified the importance of trochlear resection on the knee extensor mechanism, and dysplasia can be addressed by a groove‐deepening trochleoplasty. Alternatively,

Species diversity of macrofungi on fallows in the buffer zones of the landscape parks in Łódzkie province [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This study presents the species structure of macrofungi in different plant communities formed on fallows as a result of secondary succession. The mycological observations were carried out in 2012 and 2013 in the buffer zones of all landscape parks in the
