Flying High: Isometric Strength Training Increases Time of Flight in Junior Elite Trampoline Gymnasts

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Sport Science, Volume 25, Issue 7, July 2025.
ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to assess the effects of a 6‐week isometric training intervention on time of flight (ToF) in elite youth level gymnasts. Fourteen nationally elite youth gymnasts (10 females and 4 males; age = 15 ± 2 years; mass = 55.0 ± 8.2 kg and stature = 163.7 ± 6.5 cm) were recruited.

Prognostic Factors for Free Flap Failure in Head and Neck Reconstruction

open access: yesHead &Neck, Volume 47, Issue 7, Page 1857-1866, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Background The failure rate of free flaps varies from 0.8% to 10.6% in the literature in head and neck reconstruction. The primary objective was to identify prognostic factors for free flap failure. Methods We prospectively included all consecutive free flaps performed between August 2021 and January 2024, and used a multivariate Cox ...

Nitinol in Orthopedic Applications: Clinical Insights, Performance Challenges, and Future Directions

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Materials Research Part B: Applied Biomaterials, Volume 113, Issue 7, July 2025.
ABSTRACT The increasing prevalence of spinal disorders has spurred continuous innovation in implant design and biomaterials. Among emerging options, Nitinol has gained significant interest due to its unique combination of shape memory effect, superelasticity, and mechanical compatibility with bone tissue.

Meniscal forces and knee kinematics are affected by tibial slope modifying high tibial osteotomy

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, Volume 33, Issue 7, Page 2345-2355, July 2025.
Abstract Purpose To quantify the effect of increasing the posterior tibial slope (PTS) on knee kinematics and the resultant medial and lateral meniscal forces. Methods In this controlled laboratory study, a 6 degrees of freedom (DOF) robotic testing system was used to apply external loading conditions to seven fresh‐frozen human cadaveric knees: (1 ...

Stress radiography of medial knee instability provides a reliable correlation with the severity of injury and medial joint space opening—A robotic biomechanical cadaveric study

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, Volume 33, Issue 7, Page 2438-2446, July 2025.
Abstract Purpose The medial collateral ligament (MCL), and posterior oblique ligament (POL) are the primary valgus stabilisers of the knee, and clinical examinations in grading valgus instability can be inherently subjective. Stress radiography of medial‐sided knee injuries provides objective diagnosis and was analysed in this study.
