Generic, Geometric Finite Element Analysis of the Transtibial Residual Limb and Prosthetic Socket [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Finite element analysis was used to investigate the stress distribution between the residual limb and prosthetic socket of persons with transtibial amputation (TTA).

Application of Polymer Nanocomposites in the Design of Prosthetic Sockets That Feature Auxetic Meta‐Structures

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, Volume 142, Issue 42, November 10, 2025.
Lightweight prosthetic sockets constructed using auxetic meta‐structures can help reduce physical discomfort when compared to a similar lightweight socket featuring a nonauxetic meta‐structure. The chiral auxetic meta‐structured sockets demonstrated better contact pressure profiles at the interface between the socket and the residual limb.

Proximal femoral focal deficiency : a case report [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Proximal Femoral Focal Deficiency (PFFD) is a rare and complex congenital anomaly (1:50,000-200,000 population) that results in varying degrees of femoral hypoplasia with limb shortening and pelvic abnormalities.

Enhanced Functional and Surgical Outcomes With 3D Printing in Orthopedic Oncology: A Comparative Meta‐Analysis Against Conventional Techniques

open access: yesJournal of Surgical Oncology, Volume 132, Issue 6, Page 1131-1142, November 2025.
ABSTRACT Introduction Three‐dimensional printing (3DP) technology has increasingly gained attention in orthopedic oncology, where complex tumor resections and reconstructions demand high precision. 3DP enables the creation of patient‐specific models and prostheses, which can improve postoperative quality of life for patients while assisting surgeons in

Joint function in marmosets and tamarins: Insights from computational modeling of hip extensor muscles

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, Volume 247, Issue 5, Page 1028-1037, November 2025.
This pilot study uses computational modeling to analyze five hip extensor muscles in four Callitrichidae species, aiming to identify adaptations to different leaping behaviors. Muscle topology was reconstructed from microCT scans to model instantaneous muscle moment arms and muscle strains during hip extension.
