Clinical and Genetic Characteristics of Free Sialic Acid Storage Disorder
ABSTRACT Free sialic acid storage disorder (FSASD) is a lysosomal storage disorder that results from biallelic pathogenic variants in the SLC17A5 gene. This gene codes for sialin, a 12‐transmembrane domain protein that exports the charged sugar N‐acetylneuraminic acid (Neu5Ac; sialic acid) out of the lysosome.

Abstract Purpose Contralateral hinge fracture is one of the most common complications of medial opening wedge high tibial osteotomy (HTO), however, this complication has been poorly investigated after closing‐wedge HTO (CW‐HTO). The primary aim of this study was to describe the incidence and characteristics and propose a classification system of medial

Anatomic division and safe areas of common peroneal nerve around the fibular head
Twenty eight knees of the 14 cadevers were dissected to determine course of the common peroneal nerve from its origin to its termination.Particular dissection was performed to defining: 1. its relationship to fibular head, 2. its branches relationship to

Nerve Ultrasound in Patients With Friedreich Ataxia
ABSTRACT Introduction/Aims Nerve enlargement has been reported in patients with Friedreich ataxia (FRDA). The underlying cause remains unclear, and both inflammatory processes and dysmyelination have been suggested as potential mechanisms. This study was aimed at assessing nerve morphology with high‐resolution ultrasound, to identify and describe ...

MRI of Neurogenic Human Motor Units Following Poliomyelitis
ABSTRACT Introduction/Aims Surviving motor units in neurogenic diseases demonstrate collateral reinnervation. Scanning electromyography (EMG) reveals normal motor unit corridor length, but with “silent regions,” suggesting that reinnervation does not result in increased motor unit size but may increase motor unit complexity.
