Challenges in Initiating Antiretroviral Therapy in 2010

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology, Volume 21, Issue C, Page 1C-15C, 2010., 2010
Many clinical trials have shown that initiating antiretroviral therapy (ART) at higher rather than lower CD4 T cell‐positive counts results in survival benefit. Early treatment can help prevent end‐organ damage associated with HIV replication and can decrease infectivity.

Patient Satisfaction with Colonoscopy: A Literature Review and Pilot Study

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Volume 23, Issue 3, Page 203-209, 2009., 2009
BACKGROUND: Current guidelines recommend that colonoscopic colorectal cancer screening be undertaken every 10 years after the age of 50 years. However, because the procedure does not meet criteria that promote screening uptake, patient satisfaction with colonoscopy may encourage repeat screening.

open access: yesJournal of Religious History, Volume 49, Issue 1, Page 21-40, March 2025.
Famed for its austerity, Jansenism nonetheless prompted a slew of salacious street‐songs throughout the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. If historians have increasingly examined early modern urban singing practices, underlining the social porosity and intergenerational hold of many street‐songs, little research has been devoted to unpicking what ...

Gate‐Based Protocol Simulations for Quantum Repeaters using Quantum‐Dot Molecules in Switchable Electric Fields

open access: yesAdvanced Quantum Technologies, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2024.
Entanglement generation is crucial for many quantum technology applications, including quantum repeaters. In the context of quantum repeater protocols, an open‐quantum systems formalism is developed to simulate gate operations performed on quantum‐dot molecules in switchable electric fields.

Habitat use by impala (Aepyceros melampus) breeding herds in an elephant‐impacted woodland along the Chobe Riverfront, Botswana

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Ecology, Volume 62, Issue 1, January 2024.
Abstract Elephants have been structuring woodlands along the Chobe Riverfront, changing them to shrublands. Along with the loss of woodland cover, impala populations seem to be increasing along the Chobe Riverfront. We tested the prediction that elephant‐induced loss in woodland cover has increased preferred habitats for impalas along the Chobe ...
