Regularized Field Map Estimation in MRI [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, 2008
In fast magnetic resonance (MR) imaging with long readout times, such as echo-planar imaging (EPI) and spiral scans, it is important to correct for the effects of field inhomogeneity to reduce image distortion and blurring. Such corrections require an accurate field map, a map of the off-resonance frequency at each voxel.

Magnetic field mapping

Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, 1988
AbstractHomogeneous radiofrequency magnetic fields are necessary for production of high‐quality magnetic images and for most forms of magnetic resonance spectroscopy. It is often convenient to map the radiofrequency homogeneity associated with a resonant device by measuring the magnetic image intensity of an aqueous phantom placed within the resonator.

EEG field mapping

Electroencephalography and Clinical Neurophysiology, 1978
A method for plotting isopotential maps of EEG fields is described. Forty-eight EEG channels are recorded, computer-processed, and used to plot a chart of the potential distribution every msec. This technique shows the usual characteristics of the EEG, and also some parameters that are normally hidden, such as the shape, surface and slope of the waves.

A simple field map for shimming

Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, 1987
AbstractA field‐mapping procedure based on volume‐selective spectroscopy is described. For proton NMR the method may be used to optimize magnet shimming, on the sample under investigation, prior to spectroscopy or imaging experiments. Examples of field maps obtained on our 4.7‐T system, using phantoms and biological samples of up to 6 cm in diameter ...

Localization in a vector field map

2012 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems, 2012
Localization using continuous signals such asWiFi or active beacons is a cost-effective approach for enabling systematic navigation of robots. In our previous work we showed how localization maps, represented as regular grids, of such signals can be learned through application of vector field SLAM [1].
