A light field parameterized on the surface offers a natural and intuitive description of the view-dependent appearance of scenes with complex reflectance properties. To enable the use of surface light fields in real-time rendering we develop a compact representation suitable for an accelerated graphics pipeline.

This work focuses on creating maps of the geomagnetic field and areas of increased cosmic radiation surrounding the Earth. Data were measured by Proba-V satellite at Low-Earth orbit 820 kilometres above the Earth during 2015. The actual measured data were compared with the calculated magnetic values.

Localization in a vector field map
2012 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems, 2012Localization using continuous signals such as WiFi or active beacons is a cost-effective approach for enabling systematic navigation of robots. In our previous work we showed how localization maps, represented as regular grids, of such signals can be ...

Geomorphological Field Mapping
2011Abstract This chapter discusses the principles and applications of geomorphological field mapping, using areas of upland terrain for example, where the presence of well-defined landforms either demonstrates ongoing geomorphic activity associated with specific process–response systems or relates to the former operation of cold climate processes ...

Distributed as an open‐source library since 2013, real‐time appearance‐based mapping (RTAB‐Map) started as an appearance‐based loop closure detection approach with memory management to deal with large‐scale and long‐term online operation. It then grew to

Reconnaissance surveys are usually carried out to establish the main topographical, geological and engineering criteria that will influence the selection and design of a new alignment (e.g. Brunsden et al. 1975) or the key issues that need to be addressed in the case of a road improvement project (environmental and social impact reviews also form ...

Optical force field mapping in microdevices
Lab Chip, 2006We present a method for characterizing microscopic optical force fields. Two dimensional vector force maps are generated by measuring the optical force applied to a probe particle for a grid of particle positions. The method is used to map out the force field created by the beam from a lensed fiber inside a liquid filled microdevice. We find transverse

A simple field map for shimming
Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, 1987AbstractA field‐mapping procedure based on volume‐selective spectroscopy is described. For proton NMR the method may be used to optimize magnet shimming, on the sample under investigation, prior to spectroscopy or imaging experiments. Examples of field maps obtained on our 4.7‐T system, using phantoms and biological samples of up to 6 cm in diameter ...
