Magnetic field mapping in NMR imaging
Magnetic Resonance Imaging, 1987The Hahn spin preparation sequence provides a practical means for rapid and sensitive mapping of magnetic field inhomogeneity in NMR imaging applications. Choice of the rf pulse delay times tau 1 and tau 2 as well as conditions and limitations on the proposed use of this sequence for chemical shift imaging are discussed.

Optmization of coils for field map synthesis
International Journal of Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics, 2013The paper proposes an optimization procedure suited to design the shape and the current feed of active coils. A suitable spline-based basis is used for the coil geometry modeling, based on a rather limited number of optimization parameters. In order to simplify the constraints treatment, a set of knot points are introduced, linked with the design ...

Magnetic Field Mapping by Selective Equipotential Excitation
2006 International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2006A new magnetic field mapping method in MRI is presented. This technique is ideal for severe inhomogeneities where plane warp cannot be ignored. The present study employs a ferromagnetic ball to create a perturbation within the imaged volume. The magnetic moment and position of the device are acquired experimentally with a new technique that excites ...

Quantitative Field Mapping Experiments
American Journal of Physics, 1968Computer programming is used in conjunction with experiments in electric field mapping in the general physics laboratory. Experimental data are superimposed on the computed equipotential curves. Required modifications of the Overbeck mapping apparatus are described.

As a result of the discovery of an unusually large electro-optical effect in certain colloidal solutions of bentonite it has become possible to study and measure inhomogeneous electric fields by an optical method which is analogous to that of photoelasticity. Observations with crossed Polaroids show two orthogonal systems of lines.

Near‐field mapping of surface polariton fields
Journal of Microscopy, 2001Using the general approach to image formation in collection near‐field optical microscopy, I derive the symmetry relations for the amplitude coupling coefficients in the case of a weakly guiding single‐mode fibre terminated with a probe tip possessing axial symmetry.

Field mapping with conducting paper
Physics Education, 1968Current flow analogues are widely used to realize pictorially the concept of a 'field'. Such analogues can be highly complicated in practice but all the principles involved can be demonstrated clearly in, and useful results gained from, the conducting-paper version.
