Field Assisted Sintering Technology, Part II: Simulation
GAMM-Mitteilungen, 2017AbstractField‐assisted sintering technology (FAST) implies a multifield problem between electrical, thermal and mechanical fields. Based on a constitutive model proposed in [1], the numerical treatment of the three‐field problem in a monolithic finite element framework is discussed.

Electric field-assisted flash sintering of tin dioxide
Journal of the European Ceramic Society, 2014Abstract SnO 2 green pellets were submitted to ac electric fields at temperatures below 1350 °C. Electric current pulses occurred and a substantial modification was found in the microstructure of the pellets after application of 80 V cm −1 at 900, 1100 and 1300 °C. Similar experiments were carried out in SnO 2 mixed to 2 wt.% MnO 2 .

Electric current effect during the early stages of field‐assisted sintering
Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 2018Abstract The linear shrinkage during isothermal treatment in the early stages of conventional and field‐assisted sintering of 8YSZ was analyzed. The results reveal that the application of a moderate electric current causes a remarkable acceleration of the self‐diffusion kinetics, resulting in an enhanced ...

Synthesis of YCrO3 ceramics through a field-assisted sintering technique
Journal of Materials Science: Materials in Electronics, 2014The YCrO3 negative temperature coefficient (NTC) ceramics have been successfully fabricated through a field-assisted sintering technique with a low sintering temperature and a short sintering period. The orthorhombic perovskite YCrO3 powder synthesized from a Pechini method was formed at a temperature range of 780–800 °C through a decomposition of ...

Microstructure evolution during field-assisted sintering of zirconia spheres
Scripta Materialia, 2011The microstructure evolution during microwave-assisted sintering and spark plasma sintering of 50 μm spherical powder is presented. The two microstructures formed are alike, and show unexpected details that cannot be explained just by conventional thermal and pressure effects; one also has to consider “field” effects.

Field Assisted Sintering of Silicate Glass-Containing Alumina
2016Several studies have been carried out in the last years on Field Assisted Sintering of ceramic materials with the aim of reducing processing time and temperature. Most activities were focused on conductive or semiconductive materials whose sintering behavior resulted very much influenced by the application of an electrical field.

Application of Field Assisted Sintering for the Recycling of Grinding Steel Swarf
Euro PM2024 ProceedingsThe grinding of steel tools to the final shape generates sludge containing metallic swarf considered undesirable for direct recycling. After cleaning and separation of this steel swarf, its morphology often leaves it inappropriate for standard powder metallurgical uses. However, the possibility exists of utilizing field assisted sintering techniques to
