Electrically driven octahedral rotations in SrTiO3 and PbTiO3

open access: yes, 2012
We investigate the oxygen octahedral rotations that occur in two perovskites, SrTiO3 and PbTiO3, as a function of applied three-dimensional electric displacement field, allowing us to map out the phase diagram of rotations in both the paraelectric and ...

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Evidence of exactness of the mean field theory in the nonextensive regime of long-range spin models

open access: yes, 1999
The q-state Potts model with long-range interactions that decay as 1/r^alpha subjected to an uniform magnetic field on d-dimensional lattices is analized for different values of q in the nonextensive regime (alpha between 0 and d).

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Multi-nucleon transfer in ${}^{58}\text{Ni}+{}^{60}\text{Ni}$ and ${}^{60} \text{Ni}+{}^{60}\text{Ni}$ in stochastic mean-field approach

open access: yes, 2018
The multi-nucleon exchange mechanism in ${}^{58} \text{Ni}+{}^{60} \text{Ni}$ and ${}^{60} \text{Ni}+{}^{60}\text{Ni}$ collisions is analyzed in the framework of the stochastic mean-field approach.

Tipping the balance: theoretical interrogation of divergent extended heterolytic fragmentations. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Herein we interrogate a type of heterolytic fragmentation reaction called a 'divergent fragmentation' using density functional theory (DFT), natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis, ab initio molecular dynamics (AIMD), and external electric field (EEF ...

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by
